Question on hitch and pin box height.

Went from a 2006 2500 HD Silverado to a 3500 HD Sierra Denali. Buying a new B&W companion slider. The Slider has a height adjustment of 17 to 19 inches. To get the 6 inches of clearance from 5er overhang to truck bed rails I need the 19inches of height on hitch.
That puts the 5er about 8 inches off level from front to back. There are 2 holes left where the pin box can be raised. If I take the pin box all the way up to narrow the distance from front of 5er to rear. Will that also reduce the 6 inch clearance I need for bed rails.
Just having a difficult time trying to envision the outcome.

Yes it will, to increase height one needs to raise hitch and lower pin box, that is the basic adjustment as I understand it, in fact forget what my old 1996 GMC 3/4 ton height was, as now with it written off I now have a 2003 GMC 3/4 ton, and it has a factory lift, so will have to see if I can adjust mine for the right clearance.

I have the B&W Companion Hitch in the middle position, with the pin box raised up 2" from the lowest position. The trailer is just slightly nose high with 6" of clearance between bed rails and trailer.

Doing some measuring I believe that is where I will end up after installing the 2 inch lift kit, (axle alignment).

I sold the hitch when I sold my 2006 2500 HD. I have a new hitch on order. The dealer is unable to install until mid June. We are looking at the LCI correct track system to raise 2 inches. Then once the hitch is installed we can play with the Pin box. So between the pin box and hitch height adjustment I feel a lot better on being able to get close.

My pin weight is right around 2100 lbs.

Thanks for all the help.

X2 that is correct, I hope to find the time in the next month to install mine.

I just had Correct track system installed. Raise the rear 2".
Allowed me to Increase bedrail clearance from a marginal 4" to a comfortable 7".

Off subject, but looking at your pics, you may want to consider replacing the trailer susp w/ a Equa-Flex or at the very least install wet bolts.

You and several thousand others is a victim of the bed height war the big three has had in the last 10 years.

For some reason they make the 3500 series trucks for the kids that want a macho high lifted truck and not a truck that can tow a trailer unless it is one of the newer ones that exceeds 13 ft in height.

You need to hook it up with the pin weight on the truck to know what you are up against. The new trucks with soft springs for a nice ride settle more than older trucks.

If those are 15" ST tires, you can gain some height and reliability with LT235/85R16E tires. Check that you have at least 33" center to center on your axles and some extra room above the current tires.

Thanks for posting the pics. Nothing to do but add a sub-frame of the height you need to get level. 2-3" nose-high isn't too bad, but 8" is really too much. Doing this will also allow you to get =more= than the 6" minimum clearance you're seeking, if you so desire.
