the best advice I can advise is to find a well cared for top of the line products already mentioned. We bought a 97 Excel 28 ft legacy last year for $6500. It's weight is 8000 lb dry. Four season, all oak interior, every thing made in house including the frame. Not a staple or particle board on board. I spent nine months searching craig's list and paid cash 300 miles from home. After nearly 2 years we have spent only $300 on repairs and traveled from TX to WY. Buying new of anything is not very smart. Nor is financing something that depreciates so rapidly as RV's.

We walked in a New Horizons at the Hershey show last year...WOW.. Very nice product,,,pricey but for the quality ..I think it's worth it if you have it to spend..The owner on the company and his wife were the 2 reps there and we're great to talk to...definitely would get on my top 5 list...Joe

I've checked out both DRV and Lifestyle in person and I have to admit, they were very well built.

To some extent "yes" but just interior stuff. At Hershey I always talk to the owner (last two years). I ask him about the build of his trailers and he is willing to talk, of course if he get busy I won't bother him as he's looking to make sales.

If you are looking at used rigs check out SunnyBrook and Alpenlite. Very good quality.

What about a Crossroad Cruiser, we really like ours. We also liked the Cougar we owned before that.

I don't think a person could go wrong with DRV, Excel, or New Horizon. Have not seen Lifestyle.

Budget definitely has to be considered. If you're just looking for the BEST 5 fifth wheels, they're all going to be 100k+. I have a '10 Montana and love it. But I know it doesn't rank in the top 5 or 10 or maybe 15. It isn't priced that way either. What are your needs? You typically get what you pay for, so the best deals are to be gained when you do your homework. There are a lot of campers in the price range I paid for mine, so it's all about personal preference.

I can't believe more folks aren't including New Horizon to the list....they can custom build your unit if you have the budget....and the rig to haul. They are heavy.

I have never been in one before, I am sure they are top quality. The one thing that I don't like is they seem to sit very low to the ground.

There is one parked near me right now and I noticed the side and roof connection is square (no rounded overhang) and I wonder how the transition is made between side wall and roof.

From what I have read and seen they would be in the top 5.

These are probable the the top of the line, and these companies are still in business.

There other 5'vers for less money that may fit your needs? And there are orphan 5'vers that are also nice units.

It is all about your wants and needs and final how much money your can pay!

I like the layout and concept of our new 2013 Laredo 266RL, but IMO keystones attention to quality is horrid. Just spent 3 hrs last night re-doing plumbing on my 40,000$ camper!

ive said it before and ill say it again, look for a triple E topaz fifth wheel 2006 or newer. Canadian made, with HIGH quality materials and workmanship, ive been to their factory for a tour and its not a high paced "get it out the door" assembly line, they work on each trailer until its done. Just for example my wife and i bought our 2003 topaz luxury touring edition fifth wheel in 2003 brand new, owned it for 10 years and never ever had one issue with anything. Owned a keystone product for 2 months and its been back to the dealer 3 times already. Actually the Triple E rep that took us on the tour, i mentioned how impressed i was with their product and even more so when i seen it being built, he said what sets us apart from everyone else is we DONT like warrenty claims so we make it right the first time for both the customers benefit AND ours
