I been having some issues with the A/C restarting once the temp has been reached, so I starting looking into digital units. Most use a big box store digital for home use, which works fine, but then you lose the Hi or Lo fan speed depending on how you wire it up and it still needs to use batteries.

Then I found the Dometic Single Zone LCD units, they cover most all of the current units.
My WW only has A/C and furnace, no heat pump or heat strip.
I ordered the base unit, Fan, A/C and Heat.
It will cost a bit more than a home digital Tstat because you will need the control box too.

I started the removal process;
Old control box needs to come out, which is located up in the A/C unit on the inside, no need to go up on the roof.

Old Tstat out

Install begins...
New control box in, only 3 wires are needed to control the new Tstat instead of the 6 which the old one used.

The new digital Tstat installed, all of the old functions still work including Hi and Lo fan.

All in all not a hard install about 2 hrs., some rewiring is required. I haven't had a chance to try it out but will in a couple of weeks we will be going out.

Badhapt,
That looks nice but would snap in an instant in our desert winds.

I was thinking the same thing. I've been thinking about doing roughly the same thing but with aluminum. I have a hard time believing that even SCH80 PVC would hold up to 20+ feet of flagpole and 2 ea 3x5 flags flying on it. My other concern is that it will never fit tight enough to prevent noise from a breeze moving the pole at night.

Please report back long term on how well this is working!

Did the laundry, made sure I have all the cookin & bbq tools, checked batt (good), Checked tools and most things I need for Labor Day weekend. If I start now maybe I'll have everything. Serviced everything on the truck early this week. If you can think of anything let me know, LOL...........and I did check the propane. Gen is good to go. No projects planned for this trailer. Gonna sell it sometime soon. Either buy a newer one or just buy a cabin.

Well, it was actually last week, not today but Ive been busy. Poor mans flag holder for my Raptor. Some PVC pieces inserted and pinned into where the ladder mounts...went to see Sammy Hagar in concert and had to fly the "Red Rocker" flag my wife made for our casino parking lot boondocking!

Since you have to load shed breakers anyway, why not use a 15 to 50 adapter into the normal shore power plug with a good exterior cord to the Generator?

Can't find even the page of my OP, but promised I would reply back after doing some research re: backfeeding my TH via my Honda gen set with my own homemade double male patch chord. NO danger IF both males are where you want them BEFORE starting the gen. Otherwise...yes...you would have a hot exposed end and might get shocked OR killed. No one is allowed to do any of my electrical hookups, so wife and friends are SAFE. Thx for all of the concern.

Until some inquisitive kid comes along to figure out what that cord with two ends is for...Kids are that way.
We were sitting in the TV room of a friends wiring up some "stuff." His wife had the vacuum out...kid found the cutters and before anyone knew it all we heard was a POP and sparks...Kid cut the cord to the plugged in vacuum. They just do stuff. I know it doesn't compare...but who wants to gamble like that...Good luck Iowa.

And yet one more HERE at Amazon.

And connected thru a breaker that you keep off until you need the external power, that way someone can't stick their fingers into the socket and get zapped.

Thanks Bob...that's what friends are for...finishing the though process.

NO problem, if I had a nickel for every time I made a post that I later had to modify or someone else finished my thoughts, I could afford a bigger truck to haul a bigger TH :W

Agreed

Someone walking by unaware of the hazard trips over the cord and it becomes disconnected, they pick up the cord and attempt to plug it back in, ZAP !!
