Too Much Mail From Good Sam

We full-time and so we pay for a mailing service to have our mail forwarded to us. We have to pay for every piece of mail that is forwarded so we're careful about who we give our address to. However, in the last month I received 5 pieces of mail from Good Sam; all of them junk mail advertisements. I also found out that another piece of mail came from one of their "affiliates" that they gave our address too. I am sure this happens to a lot of full timers so I thought I would pass this along. You can call 1-800-964-4748 and ask them to take you off of the mailing list and be sure to tell them to not give your address to any of their affiliates. That's what I did today anyway, so hopeful they do as they promised and I stop paying for promotional pieces. Hey...Good Sam...full-timers DO NOT WANT junk mail!

Sorry, but when it comes to GS specifically, this is nothing but a self-inflicted wound. If you are a member, it takes a minute to set up an online profile, and set your preferences. Adjust your settings to no mail, and no emails, except renewal notices. I did this, years ago, and haven't gotten a single piece of their **** in years.

In regards to junk mail goodsammailservice.com does discard any obvious junk mail as well. In the last 10 years I have never received a piece of junk mail. The reason I choose Good Sam Mail Service is because the monthly cost was less. Even when I'm not traveling I use my Good Sam Mail because of the convenience.

Our mail service, St. Brendan Isle, allows us to visually scan all incoming mail on their secure web site and we can easily pick what we want forwarded and what they can discard.
X2. Love St. Brendan's Isle. In addition to this, they will automatically discard any obvious junk mail without even running it through their scanning system. Love it.

It sounds as though someone in the thread mentioning Good Sam Club is using something else. I use Good Sam Mail at www.goodsammailservice.com and they allow me to view every piece of mail and select to shred or send to me. I rarely have my mail sent to me because I can view it all online. I have used other services in the past and they do not offer this service. Most companies simply mail you everything.

I hope this is helpful.

It looks like you can't view the mail that is received by your mail service before they send it to you and they also forward everything that they get. This would not be something I would want.

As someone stated above, a service like St Brendan's Isle (which I have) will give you the option to view on-line the front side of every piece of mail that is received. You then choose what you want forwarded and what gets shredded by them. I can also set up my mail so all 3rd class junk mail is automatically trashed.

I would advise you to change to a different service if you can't at least view your mail online. I know this would be a major pain and I wouldn't want to do it either.

Last - Which service do you use ?

The only thing I got from Good Sam membership is a ship load of mail I didn't want, both in the mailbox and email. They just take you for a jerk that will buy every piece of **** they are pushing. I can't wait for my membership to run out. The little discount on over priced products in their stores is little incentive to remain a member. Maybe the mail will quit coming.

I'm surprised that you use the forum that they pay to run - I would think that you wouldn't want to be associated in any way, shape, or form, with the company.

We never see a piece of 3rd class mail as our mail service (Escapees) shreds all of it for us (yes, we pay that service), plus we also set our mail preferences with their site.

I have been using Good Sam Mail Service for about 12 years, I even use it when I'm not traveling because I can control what mail I get. Good Sam Mail Service gives members the managing tools needed online or by phone to control incoming paper mail. You can select and choose only the mail you wish to have shipped, scanned, held or shredded.

I love the service they offer. I view all my mail right online. Hope this helps, the website is goodsammailservice.com

Not Good Sam's fault... They are in business and people buy from mailings or they - and others a wouldn't go them. But, as already mentioned, you can control their mailings with settings on their site and/or pay to have your mail screened. WexusexEs apes which has 3 levels of service so you can opt out of junk mail if you want. I'm sure the other services have similar services if you're willing to pay for them.

You need a better mail service one that ONLY sends the mail you want after you select it from the images online ,and you need to set the preferences on your good Sam account ,. You can stop 90% of it there .no need to call them it's all in your account settings online

You can stop most of it by updating preferences on the various GS/CW sites. Of course that would mean taking responsibility for your account instead of just allowing sites to do as they wish
