Where do you go to escape high temps & humidity in the summer months? Wondering about western PA, Tenn., or the Florida panhandle. Would want to keep costs moderate... Thanks!

Just like the West altitude is your friend. Not much is very high. Very little in the East is even as high as Denver. Tough to find a CG in the East as high as Denver.

I know several RVing folks who summer in Alaska and winter here in OlyPen. Have you done a road trip to the Last Frontier?

2000' will give you 10 degrees cooler, 3000' will get you 15. In the N GA mountains it always gets below 70 at night.

If wanting to stay in the SE, I invite you to Crossville, TN. located a top the Cumberland Plateau. Elevation is about 2000'. Summers are 10* or more cooler than the valley. Humidity is lower also.

Lots of interesting day trips in the area. The greatest IMO, is the Fall Creeks Falls State Park.

If you want to stay in the SE but remain cool you must go up in elevation. If you don't care how hot or humid it is then anywhere will work.

If you consider W. PA, there a several options. In the Highlands just southeast of Pittsburgh, you can visit Fort Necessity (built by G. Washington after his English forces and Indians murdered a French Envoy) to attempt to repel retaliation by the French, Fallingwater built by Frank Lloyd Wright, white water rafting at Ohioplye State Park, or bike the rail to trails to Washington DC. A short distance away is the Flight 93 Memorial, and the Johnstown Flood National Memorial. A couple of hours east is Gettysburg, and then on to Philadelphia area for Independence Hall and Valley Forge. If you have kids with you, consider a stop in Hershey that has an amusement park, Zoo, botanical gardens, and Chocolate World. Not far away from Hershey is the Lancaster area, home to a large sect of Pennsylvania Dutch (Amish & Mennonite), quaint villages like Bird-In-Hand, special dining options, and other things.

Good Luck with your trip planning.

How about the UP of Michigan or Wisconsin's Door County which has water on two sides.

You'll want to go as far north as you can. We full time and spend summers in the northern half of the US, but we spent a couple of weeks in June in Central PA near a lake and it was doable. Most other SE locations are too hot for us - but we don't like anything above 90. YMMV

Before the days of air conditions, rich southern families went to the mountains (TN or NC) for the summer. Now us poor RV's can do the same.
Please give me enough troubles, uncertainty, problems, obstacles and STRESS so that I do not become arrogant, proud, and smug in my own abilities, and enough blessings and good times that I realize that someone else is in charge of my life.
