A Dirty Question

My husband and I are long time RVer's, having owned three different 5th wheel trailers over the last 15 years. We recently sold our truck and 5er as a combo deal and bought a 2004 Country Coach Inspire with only 17,000 miles. It's in excellant condition!

All of our 5ers have come with a separate, outside storage area, specifically for our sewer hose. Our MH has no such storage. Where do you store your sewer hose when not in use and traveling?

What I mean is, it's really tough for me to believe that such a high ranking coach manufacturer would not supply ample space for such a needed, IMPORTANT item. I'd sure look around before I'd start "adding" anything to accommodate that hose.

My 2004 Tropical does not have a designated space either. There is room, just no tube or hollow bumper or special place to store it.

To the OP, I just got one of the plastic tubs with a lid and put it in there and keep it in a storage compartment.

No space provided in my 2011 Winnebago Vista, I put it in a black garbage bag and place the bag in a rectangular plastic container with lid also keep rubber gloves, etc in the container.

I have a large tube that my hose fits into with male end caps that screw in or out on both sides! It's in my storage compartment now one of these days, I'll mount it under the coach near the water works!

Well, learn something every day here. Not a bid deal but, just seems odd they don't give you room for something you'll use just about each and every time you use the coach. I can see not giving you space for tool box or, bicycles, or something that's way out of the ordinary but, no room for a sewer hose? Wow, I guess you gotta do what you gotta do. Good luck. I've seen the large PVC setup for years on truck campers and small Class Cs that don't have any outside storage at all.

Travel Supreme installed a 4" PVC pipe with door for the hose in the propane compartment just aft of the tank. I installed two plastic boxes below the tank to hold the spare hoses, the sewer hose fittings and the small propane bottles for the grill. Since the compartment is already opened up at the bottom, it's a good place for smelly hoses and propane bottles.

Use a Rhino hose. They come with end caps which does away with the wasted space inside a storage container. On my HR the sewer hose, water filter assembly, etc all fit in the well below the dump valves.

Ours has a basin type affair below the dump valves with a screw in plug so the slinky can be put through that and the door shut. The sewer hose will fit curled up in there. It works ok because if any thing leaks out it is caught in this basin which can be washed out easily.

2011 Holiday Rambler Endeavor - also had no "factory" spot to store the slinky. Took 2 pieces of 4" plastic pipe and set them in the corners above the propane tank. Propane tank has door just in front of wet bay, bottom is open to atmosphere so things will dry, and the 2 pieces of pipe fit perfectly in the curve above the center line of the tank towards the ceiling. The pipes lay in there perfectly - make sure you block off the back of the pipe so the hose does not fall out the back, and a large plastic wall anchor through a drilled hole in the front edge of the pipe catches the lock ring of the slinky perfectly and keeps it from coming out the front.
If you can't visualize what I am talking about and your propane tank goes cross coach, just take a look in the compartment. The PVC pipe should fit in the upper right and left corner of the compartment laying on the tank and against each side wall.

I use a sealed lid semi-clear container. The first one I got was a bit small so the next size up holds 2 10' hoses along with several adapters. It's a bit to big but what are you gonna do, life is full of compromises.

We, too, use a lidded plastic container that I bought at Costco. We have no room in the wet bay area so I keep the container with our expansion hose in the bay in front of it. Works great for us. The box also holds our flexible hose stand, everything fits in that one container.

We use a lidded plastic box for ours (which is one of the telescopic types) and keep it in the bay where the electrical hook-up and transfer box are. It's just aft of the bay with the water hook-ups, above the dump handles.
