Bunks in motorhomes

We absolutely love our current motorhome and have it maintained like crazy! BUT, we want bunks and find that they aren't very popular with too many manufacturers we'd consider. The location of the bunks are important to us and the only manufacturer that positions them away from the bedroom is a Prevost converter. Is a Prevost converter my only solution, or has anyone heard of manufacturer's custom design a current floorplan, ie. Newmar, Monaco, Tiffin? Thanks in advance for your thoughts. Tommy

That's the one that a former forum member had done a couple of years ago (PM me if you want more pictures). There was another member that contacted them last year and was offered a few different layout options for the rear bunks (I'll see if I can find them and I'll post them).

In case anyone is curious, here's more pictures of that same Revo 42T MH:

Those pictures are awesome and that motorhome was done well. Thank you for sharing. Tommy

We just purchased a forest river cross country sportscoach bunkhouse. Bunks are in hallway by master but have privacy dors at each end. Also has pass thru bath with door from master and living space

We bought our Winnebago Vista because of bunk bed floor plan. It is right in front of the master bedroom but with sliding doors on both sides of the bunks it works well for us. The doors separate the bunks from the main area and the master. It is a gas model so probably not what you are looking for but a nice rig none the less.

Newmar converted our rear bath to a bunk room.

I haven't seen it done well in a MH, which is why we have a DRV fifth wheel on order after 5 years with our current MH.

Tommy,

I have been doing some research on Bunkhouses in Motorhomes now for about a year. We have gone from "bunks in the hallway" (Forest River Charleston) to a converting a closet into a bunkhouse (American Coach, Eagle 45T).

I am right now talking to American Coach and they assure me they will not only convert the rear walk in closet (Eagle 45T and Revolution 42T) into a bunkhouse on their product in production, but they are working up a price for me to bring in a used rig and they will also refit that rig too.

I will keep you informed if you want. We are pulling the trigger on a used 45T or a new 42T in about 6 months.

On one of the Rv shows on TV a few years ago there was a guy that converted a section of basement storage area into a bedroom. There was a hatch in the floor for access.

Foretravel in Nacogdoches,Texas has a 2012 model IH 45 on their lot that has bunks.
It is stock number 6550p.
Take a look at their sight under preowned
Foretravels are excellent coaches

WOW. They did a great job on that one!!! I haven't considered Foretravel yet I know they build a great product. Thank you for your help.

The Foretravel looks very nice but those bunks don't look that long (although it's pretty hard to tell from the floorplan and pictures). If I had that kind of budget, I'd do like GreenSalsa is proposing and get a modified Revo 42T or Eagle 45T.

Or as others have suggested, Newmar will probably do similar (e.g. MA 4364 or DS 4364) but with those, you'll probably have to remove the linen closet and move the W/D and the wall to make enough room for the bed at the back.

Take a look at the Winnebago Forza. The Forza has a drop down bed in the front of the coach. Our 34t has the drop down bed in the front and the master in the back. The 38p? model has the drop down in the front and bunks and the master in the back. Give it a look.
May the Forza be with us!

We bought a Newmar Ventana LE 3845 bunkhouse in November, 2014 model , we also looked at a BH in a Berkshire and the Palazzo, the Newmar seemed the best quality for the money.

Good luck. We would have loved a bunkhouse layout, but all we saw provided ZERO privacy to the master bedroom.

Good luck finding a used production A that does.

You're right. Tiffin is a good motorhome. There's only one motorhome in the country (already built) that matches our requests. It's a Prevost that looks like a family with a similar situation had custom built. Most bunk floor plans in motorhomes don't seem too thought out. Thanks for your input. Tommy
