Getting ready for a trip to the mid west and as usual have the pre trip jitters. After I get behind the wheel and a mile down the road, if that far I'll be OK I hope. The heat and storms bother me a little, especially the heat in Missouri. Wish I could find a reasonable RV park in St. Louis area. A friend says I can park behind the church he pastors and he will even put in 50 amp. for us. The nearest RV park in Old St. Charles is $1500.00 a month.

Yup, 50 amp home or RV is:

Two hots (50 amp breaker each and wire to handle 50 amps) coming off opposite sides of the main building breaker box, so 240 VAC between the two hots

One neutral

One ground

As already stated 30 amp home and RV ARE DIFFERENT!

50 amp RV is set up different than 50 amp residential or commercial.

A 50A RV outlet or plug is a standard NEMA 14-50 connector, identical to that used for a standard electric range (among other things). It is not at all unique to RV use.

A 30A RV outlet or plug, on the other hand, is unique to RV use. It is unfortunately superficially similar in appearance to 30A 240V receptacles, and that's where wiring errors most commonly originate from.

Of course, it's not at all a bad idea to double-check the wiring and voltages of any receptacle before plugging one's RV into it, since problems can cause significant damage (including problems that may develop over time, such as a loose neutral connection).

As you may know we are back from our trip to Missouri. We stayed at Sundermeier RV park and it wasn't as expensive as I had figured. We needed to be in that location. Was very happy with the park.

Wow! I would not spend that much...it must be a really nice RV park. I would keep looking for something else or try the church and drive to dump/replenish periodically. Good luck!

Wondering what you would do for dumping your tanks if staying at the church long-term. Do you really need to stay in St. Louis in the summer? Yikes!!! We used to live there.

Don. If you are looking for a reasonable RV park around Saint Louis, MO you might look into RED BARN RENDEZVOUS RV PARK. It is located 23 miles NE of St Louis in Edwardsville, IL 62025. They are advertising $440 per month rate. The information for them: RED BARN RENDEZVOUS RV PARK, 3955 Blackburn Rd. Edwardsville, IL 62025, 618-692-9015. We have stayed there several times and it is just a little off I-55 going towards Chicago. Nice place with nice people, and quite. Good Luck. Gary

I'm going from Va to S Tn next week but I'm already excited about Co for Sept, Oct Elk. No jitters here. 1500 wouldn't get me in their door. That's higher than Washington DC area.

We stayed at the Casino Queen CG and it was nice. Not too many trees though. Security was excellent, with drive thrus about once every hour.

Like you, pre trip jitters = fear of the unknown..:B...hour later when all dash gauges show good, I'm good...:)....Dennis

It is probably going to be really quiet at night, and peaceful!

You can run the generator and the rooftop A/C while driving, and that will keep the RV plenty cool inside!

Thanks Fred, yes, the church is the best bet. We stayed there for two months a couple years ago.
