Hey, just wondering for all you do it yourselfers, were do you buy your air and oil filters at? And while I'm at it what brand oil do you recommend for this engine? Regular or Synthetic? We have the Triton V10 by ford, but hate buying from dealers. 😉

Motorcraft filters and oil for me. I figure if its good enough for the design Engineers at Ford, its good enough for me.

Sticking with the Auto manufacterer's filter brand is one thing that i have not seen in the other posts so far. Wallyworld will sell you motorcraft filters for Fords, (as well as GM Delco filters for GMs). Just a personal pref of mine to use these.

Another Mobil 1 user (5w-40). I prefer to use the Motorcraft 820S filter but, if not available, I buy the Tough Guard Fram (TG2). Stay away from the cheaper Fram.

X2. Walmart charges $22-$24 for a 5-quart jug of typical weight Mobil 1 oil. You can barely beat that price for the cheapest dino oil, and there is no comparison between Mobil 1 and any dino oil. I've drive approximately 500,000 miles using Mobil 1 (not the same car) and have never had any oil related problems whatsoever.

A ford V-10 is the easiest oil change that I do myself. go to Walmart buy 6 quarts of Pennsoil 5W30 oil, and a Motorcraft 820S Oil filter. That's the filter # my 2000 v-10 calls for, adn the oil is 6 qts 5W30, dosn't have to be Pennsoil. If you driving last then 5 thousand miles a year, synethic oil is awaste of money. My 2 cents worth.

Advance Auto Parts Store brand unless there is a deal on name brand and 1 quart of Lucas Oil supplement. I should check prices at Sams Club after reading this thread though.

That V10 is such a nice easy engine to change oil on. They did a great job designing it.

Mobile 1 from Costco, I wait until they have a $10 manufacturer rebate on a case. I only use WIX filters on everything, MH, 3 cars, zero turn mower and tractor. O'Reilly's and AutoValue carry them. NAPA Gold filters are made by WIX so there's another source. I don't put a lot of miles on the MH in a year but the engine runs a little cooler and MPG is a little better with synthetic oil. If you don't want to throw all that good synthetic oil away after year, change the filter and add a quart.

Been running synthetic ever since Mobil came out with Mobil 1 back in the 1970s. When I read about them putting a over 100,000 miles on a Cadillac engine, tearing the engine down and micro-metering all the internal moving parts, and finding them all in like new measurements, I could not go any other route. You can find that article in the old 1970 Popular Mechanics magazine. Very impressive. I even use it in the zero turn mower and the snow blower.

And then the dw's uncle was the long time head mechanic for for a major regional ltl trucking company. They tested some synthetic motor oil for a unnamed oil refinery. The ran the one in one diesel only, put over a million miles on the oil. Did nothing but change oil filters ar the specified time and top of the oil. No special filters or anything. That engine was tore down and micro-measured twice and all the parts checked out with like new measurements. They kept running the tractor as a city tractor and yard tractor after it made the million mile mark.

For oil I go to Costco and get Mobil 1 and for filters I buy K & N.

I am the mehcanic on my motorhome. I'd go broke if I had to write a check everytime something went wrong.

I have a Diesel, but I do my own oil changes. All the stuff can bought at Walmart and the motorhome oil change is easier than any of the cars that I own. Although I run Synthetic in my cars, I run the old Dino juice in my motorhome.

The main reason: I don't drive more than 7,000 miles in a years time, so Synthetic would be a waste if I were to toss it early. I change the oil just prior to winter storage because I don't want oil that is contaminated with a seasons-worth of moisture.

Any auto parts store. Not hard to find.
My advice is worth exactly what you paid for it.
