Got a quote for six 245/70/19.5 Hankooks AH11, $2440.00 installed out the door, are these tires good or just cheap, want to replace my Samson tires that are noisy and hard to balance.

Seems tire prices have gone up in the past few years, what is also making it worse is Discount tire, Sams Club and many others no longer do motorhome tires because of insurance cost, puts the selection down to a few here in Vegas..

Sometimes after reading all the tire threads, I get the impression that a manufacture could sell an inferior set of tires, assuming there is such a thing, for 5 times the amount of their competitors, simply because they cost so much. I mean you always get what you pay for, right? Same goes for toad braking systems.

Well its time for my update here :

Replaced all 6 Samsons with Hankook AH-11 14 ply tires, the installer used equal in all 6 tires plus I have centramatic balancers front and back and the drive was smooth and much better handling, even the bumps were smoother.

Only drove the RV 30 miles for a test and will have to say this was a good buy, glad the Samson tires are gone, sold them on Craigslist for $300 since they were still near new..

I have the Hankooks also. They ride great, are balanced well and no noise. The only problem is I have a 3 speed transmission and with the smaller diameter tires the engine RPM is higher thus more engine noise. I personally wish I would have stayed with the 8R's.

The ride is probably being hurt by the H rating. I hope you are running the pressure at what you actually need and not at the max pressure on the side wall of those H tires.

The recommended pressure for a 20,500 lb GVWR should be around 80 psi with 245-70/19.5 tires.

I have played with the pressure from 80lbs to 100lbs, still rides bad, however the higher pressure the rv is more stable but the humming noise is more high pitch, going have all new Hankooks installed today, will report back the quality of Hankook tires.

What is the load rating on the tires you are looking at? G or H. I am thinking you may need Load Range H. You should be able to find the rating letter on your old and new tires.

G rated 14ply for the Hankook's, the Samson's I have now is H rated 16ply, my rv is only 18000lbs dry weight, 20,500lb gross weight, I am finding the 16ply Samson's are just to hard and a crappy tire all together.

My current Samson's are still new and only 4500 miles on them, they were installed by the dealer, thought it was good deal that my RV came with all new 6 tires when I bought it in June 2013 but these tires ride like******and noisy at 60-65 mph, cheap China tires and they ride like cheap tires to..

We put six new Hanook's on our 35' Georgie Boy and the ride was so much
better than the Goodyear's we replaced. Last year we put 4 new Hankook's
on our 2001 Tracker. Great tires'''

I paid $1,700.00 out the door cash for six AH11s 19.5 balanced and best used remounted on my spare rim 1-1/2 years ago. Also running 22inch Hankooks on my Suburban. Not one bit of problem with either.
Call this place just for the heck of it. Tell them a couple of yer buddies got tires here for their rvs and get a Price.

I have 6 Hankook AH12 275/70/22.5 and love them. The four in the back have been on there for 4yrs now with no problems. I have been on 4 east to west coast trips with them and they just keep rolling along. Knock on wood I regularly check my air pressure and never have to add any air, they are sealed tight.

I do not do this often but if you are you in southwest call Mike's mobile tire service 602.692.6525. They did work for me including tire spin balancing all tires.

I replaced the Michelin's on our 96 Southwind with Hankook tires.

5 years and no problems.

I won't hesitate to buy Hankook again.

Might give them a call but not going that way for a while, so spending a hundred or more in gas round trip to save 200 dollars does not seem like a deal, I have another Hankook dealer here in town I plan on calling them Monday, there were closed for the weekend, Vegas always gets higher prices on certain things because no other town for 150 miles or more either way for competition to keep prices low, you should see what are RV dealers ask for old dried out motorhomes here and a $1000 dealer fee added to price, that's why my last 2 motorhomes were bought out of state.
