Has anyone on the Forum seen the new Free Spirit SS (Single Slide)in person or purchased? Our Dealer just told me that they have not ordered one for there lot but are holding off as Manufacturer is working on Electric Sofa vs manual for the bed that takes up the Slide area. They expect to have one on there lot in next four to six weeks. I'm anxious to see one.

I have yet to see a Free Spirit SS in person so I am hoping someone will be kind enough to answer two questions...

1. Are you able to store bedding under the bed during the day or must you use another space?

2. A good sized refrigerator is much more important to me than the size of the microwave. It seems that one should be able to remove the microwave to make room for a larger frig and find a home for compact countertop sized microwave in one of the larger cabinets (should fit if the cabinets are 15" deep as the videos say). Is this a realistic thought?

A couple of Free Spirit SS dimensions that people asked about

I did some measuring of a couple of areas. The big area in the back storage would hold that O-Grill. The area is 9" deep by 26" high by 24" wide. There is one vent pipe that intrudes into the space at the top.

Some have had questions on the distance between the end of the bed and the door. It is 16". The width of the area with that distance is 44". On either end of that distance you then run into the screen door frame and then lose about six inches.

Having now dry camped in the Free Sprit I can say it exceeds my expectations. Everything worked flawlessly. What a joy to drive and camp in. Stays warm at night. 40 degrees outside and heater only came on a few times all night.

Bed is comfy and plenty big enough for two. Did not feel confined whatsoever. Shower was wonderful. Since dry camping we used the water on and off method to preserve water but if hooked to water and sewer you could just let it run all you want.

I have found forums to be so useful and appreciate people providing info, etc. so I want to do my share so if you have questions about the coach I will be glad to answer them.

Wow, that looks like a great RV! We love our PW Excel, but the small bathroom is kind of a drag and no real shower. We've never used the shower in our PW, too small, so we always use the campground showers. Of course our PW is about two and a half feet shorter, so you can't have everything and it is also less expensive. But this would be one that I would look at if I were buying one now. Congratulations to all that bought one. Hope it works out well for you.

Thanks TLWNF
A small gas grill would be one thing we would definitely want to bring - I wouldn't have thought of the shower as a place to store it!

Hey, everybody. We picked up our Free Spirit SS a month ago. Less than 400 miles on it so far and no camping! Just to busy. Next two weekends have trips planned though. I have been able to go through everything pretty while it is parked in its shop. 12' x 36' built just for it. I am spoiled.

Everything works great and I am very impressed with the quality, fit and finish. Only a couple of minor issues that the dealer had spotted before we picked it up and is working with factory on, such as the spare tire carrier drops too low to be level to use as a table.

Answers to questions on the sofa/bed. There is about six-eight inches of room between the end of the bed and the sliding door. You can slide around it OK but just need to move slow. The power sofa works good but I would say not essential since it is a light sofa and easy to access. But still, just the same, is kind of nice to just hit a switch. It is plenty wide enough for two people.

So far I see the back storage as a place where all the hardware, hoses, tools, etc will go plus our inflatable boat, oars and small folding chairs. Not big enough for even a small gas grill so that will have to travel in the shower and get swapped out with the front seat area when parked.

The bath is so wonderful and we haven't even used it yet!.

One of the things that sold us on this unit was the dealer, and particularly the salesman, we were lucky enough to connect with. They are only 180 miles from us which in Montana is good. Chad at Creston RV is wonderful. He is the best salesman I have met in my life when it comes to putting you at ease and making you feel comfortable with a purchase. He is half the reason we bought this year. He has bought us two nights camping near the dealership Memorial Day weekend and he is going to help us set up for our third, yes third walk through with him, and then will return each morning to go over any questions.
What service!

I will provide a report in a few weeks after we have some nights both dry camping and in an RV park. Later, folks.

So for those who have the Free Spirit SS - exactly how much room is there at the foot of the bed with bed down?

Are we talking like 2 feet? OR like 6 inches? I'm wondering if I could fit a bicycle down there. I would need about 18 inches.
(It's an expensive bike - it lives inside)

Thanks!

Just wondering what people carry in the rear storage in the SS...
And what sort of things you had to leave behind.

2014 models will include a 1 cu ft larger fridge standard. Power sofa (54x74) and enclosed awning as options.

Correction: Power sofa is standard for the 2014 model.

We have now added nearly 2,000 (for a total of 7,500)miles to our Freespirit SS since my last post and our opinion has not changed. We think the MB vehicle is phenomenal and we can live with the trade-offs associated with the bed/sofa combination and the slide. Since most of our camping was remote and well below freezing we were inside most of the time and enjoyed the additional space provided by the slide out. We were at very high elevation in AZ, UT, NV OR and WA with many (very high and cold)mountain passes to climb. MB certainly knows how to turbocharge a small diesel engine resulting in good performance while maintaining reasonable fuel economy. I would very much like to hear from TLWNF about their power sofa.

After almost four years of shopping and dreaming, and being certain we were going to purchase a Pleasure Way Plateau, we are now going to take delivery of a LTV Free Spirit SS this Saturday. We decided the bed will work just fine but were sold on the open area in the middle at the sliding door and the full, dry bathroom. It is on a 2013 Sprinter and has the power sofa option, just now available. We were going to take advantage of the dealer's free two day camping and learning weekend at a local RV park but the forecast is for freezing weather so that will be done in a few weeks. So once we get some time in it will be able to provide reports to anyone interested.

We are so excited!
