A lot of posts throughout the forum say don't worry about the MSRP, you'll never pay that.

Nevada bases the registration (not sales tax)on the MSRP. That's why you will never see an Entegra Cornerstone (MSRP nearly $650.000.00) with Nevada plates.

And although it lowers slightly each year, it's still big bucks.

Don't register anything in Missouri. I wish the the manufacturers would lobby against this, makes you not want to buy anything newe. I hate to hand over 3000 to an agency for basically doing nothing

VA will get you for both an annual "personal property tax", and also for State Income Tax. My Bounder's assessed value last year was $25,240, on which I paid $378 tax ($1.50 on a hundred) plus a $35 license fee. Annual vehicle registration (tags) is $46.00, and there is a $16 annual inspection fee.

This is one of the reasons you see a lot of Montana plates on the motorhome and Nevada plates on the towed. However according to one of my neighbors who is a NHP officer, the state is starting to crack down on illegal Montana LLCs, as are some other states.

When I first moved to the state five years ago my registration fees, including the government services tax, where over $3,000 on my 2009 coach. This year the fees were approximately $1,350.

Yes yearly, but it does go down a wee bit each year. Car was $800, pickup over $500, motorcycles over $200 ea. Its out of control here. And they wonder why people cheat the system. I told the clerk i would be a South Dakota resident next year ๐Ÿ™‚

That's a lot. Add that to your state income tax and that's a bunch of taxes. Wait, no Nevada state income tax. Such a deal. Everyone pays, we're just a moving target.
Try to live up to your dogs opinion of you.

Know what you mean, the MSRP on our 2000 at the time was only $114k

Fee/tax breakdown for our new 2000 coach registered 03/03/2000:
Vin Inspection: $1.00
Plate transfer fee: $6.00
Registration fee-Trucks: $300.00
Basic Privilege Tax, Clark Co: $1,244.00
Supplemental Privilege Tax, Clark Co: $311.00
Local Govt. full sales tax-Clark Co: $4,452.52
General Fund Full Sales Tax - Clark Co: $1,923.74

In 2003 they changed the term "Privilege Tax" to "Basic & Supplemental Government Services Tax."

Wow, sounds like NV is trying to catch up with CA. My mom and dad moved to Carson city in the early 90s and were shocked at how much cheaper vehicle registration was as compared to what they paid in CA. Times have changed.

Just curious, did a portion of the $3,000 involve State sales tax?

When we registered our new 2000 Residency (bought in AZ) the total $$ the NV DMV in Vegas collected from us was $8,238.26. Of that amount $7,931.26 were various local & state sales tax.

Registration fee was only $300.00

Our current registration renewal fee is only $267.00

Ouch was that a new model, my 08 when I bought it 2 years ago cost $1100 the 1st year that included plates than $900 last year and now my tags are do this month and cost is now down to $709, so it does drop fast but mine did start out as a used 2008.

My cost above does not include sales tax, that alone was $6000

Just went and checked my truck, 2005 Ford F250 4X4 3/4 diesel and it's $170 for two years. I believe the DP is about the same. I don't know how you can take those types of taxes. It may be cooler here in the winter, but for the cost of your taxes I fly to Mexico twice a winter for what you could call a free vacation.
