valet parking

Anybody have any experience with valet parking of your B? I attended a seminar at a private club with a crowded parking lot and valet parking. I even had a hard time maneuvering my 20 ft van there. I chickened out and parked on the street. They said they could handle it with no problem, but my instinct said they couldn't.

any comments?

Would you really want to hand the keys of your B with all of your belongings in it to a kid who barely has his license to squeeze your B into a small parking space in a crowded lot? I wouldn't. Find a safe park it yourself lot and walk to the conference or party.

I use valet parking frequently. Back in the days when I had a Dodge 3500 to tow my 5th wheel I couldn't find a space big enough for the truck so I pulled up to the valet stand. The young man hopped in my truck and said, "What's the third pedal for?"

I parked the truck myself.

Just make sure they aren't taking it to a parking garage. Regular plain ole vans don't fit in many of them. And a valet parking guy is not going to think about the ac unit on the top.

so as to have the life that is waiting for us.

After talking to a parking valet a few years back who bragged about deliberately hitting parked cars ("Oh, the club will pay the damages, if the person can prove it"), as well as how I see the valets drive cars at hotels...

No. Way.

The cost of a taxi is far cheaper than the insurance deductible for creased body panels, much less stuff gone missing in the motorhome. I don't let them valet park my car as well.

We used valet at Caesar's in Las Vegas for a week, we really had no choice. It worked out great as they ended up parking it in their Limo lot just in front of the entrance, it was the only other vehicle in there except for their stretch fleet. They had to keep one set of keys and we used the other to go in and out for day trips, they even gave us the code to get in the lot ourselves. We have also used valet parking for our B's at a few functions over the years and never had a problem. We have had problems with cars, one ending up with a big scratch, and the other instance they went through our console looking for cash, etc., they got about $25.00 out of it.

Nope, we don't use valet parking.
We were at a casino in Atlantic City a few years ago. While walking past the valet parking area all you could hear was squealing tires from the valet parkers accelerating, taking corners in the parking garage and braking.
They parked them as quick as possible....I'm guessing to increase their tips.

I don't let anyone drive my RV any other time. No point starting with valet parking.

You made the right move not letting someone park your RV.
