Changed oil, filter and topped off fluids. Greased it and checked rearend oil. Checked the brake shoes and front pads. Now we are ready for our next trip in a couple weeks.

Found a rattle that has been bugging me. It was the ground wire to the propane tank. Not sure how long it was unhooked.

Looks like you 'spit shined' that motor! Nice!
Thanks, That is what you get with two can's of Oven cleaner and three can,s of Engine paint, Cheap thing to do to make your engine look like new again, Not counting the Plug's/Wires and Exhaust manifolds, There is something that makes old rusty manifolds look great again, It Is called Calyx
See it HERE.

Checked all the fluids, charged house batts, tire pressure, ran genny for 2 hours and generally stood back and admired what a good looking RV it really is after 7 years. Of course, keeping it in a garage helps too.

Nice work on the door, Makes me think I might need to check mine, I would hate to have a all new RV with a bad door.

I think what got our door is 30 years of rain splashing on the bottom of the door, I think the seal failed around the window since the rot was far worse below the window than above it. The screws in the lower door were so rusted I didn't even need tools to remove some of them, the ones above the window still looked new.

I know the door frame is rotted the bottom of our door frame has seperate from the rest of the frame and I can feel it being spongy. We also need to rebuild the overhead cab, and I can see a spot in the ceiling near the back vent that is all lumpy from being wet for a long time.

We have eternabonded all the vents and seams and resealed all the windows, so I'm hoping we have stopped the leaks....I'm kind of dreading poking into the structure of the thing since I know it'll turn into a big project really fast....

I met my new (vintage) Class C up close and personal today! The nice guy that we are purchasing the RV from spent the afternoon showing us all the gadgets and gizmo's, what hooks up to what, etc. We pulled into an empty campsite and hooked everything up, and then unhooked and stowed everything to hit the road. We had a blast!

Can't wait until we get to bring it home next week!

Very NICE job Alaskan!! I'm proud of ya'. Make sure you don't have any leaking around the frame of in the roof line....trust me, you never know what you will find when you start removing the outer skin from a MH. Keep us posted and "keep on truckin"! R.W. Bowers (A.K.A.--"Buffalo Bob")

Well our door was becoming difficult to open and close after 33 years of bouncing along the road, so we took the door apart. and found all we had was a pile of wet sawdust and cardboard sandwiched between to door skins.

So a trip to home depot and $30.00 in lumber we rebuilt the frame.

After some screws and some liquid nails we had a frame.

Then we glued it to the skin and installed the insulation panels in the void spaces.

Then we installed the window.

ANd then the new door lock and installed it on the RV. It was 1 am on thursday when we finished but I did go camping this weekend in Seward with the family.

THe old door was so rotted it rattled and was very loud, I was amazed at how much noise went away once the door was once again solid. Now we have to fix the door frame, there is more rot at the bottom of the frame...

THe total cost was just under $200.00 including wood, screws, glue, insulation, and new window surrounds and a modern lock (we had to modify the door frame to install this since it has a deadbolt. the deadbolt isn't functional on our rv) $94.00 of the cost was the new lock... It took 4 evening and about 24 hours of time to dismantle, clean the skins, figure out how to rebuild it, rebuild it, and assemble and rehang, and go on a test drive. Having a co-owner is nice since there are more hands and brainpower behind fixing stuff.

Washed and rinsed with dish soap--only had to move the new platform ladder twice on each side, twice for the back, and twice for the front. Got a good reach from the ladder to the cabover too. It was cloudy so I went ahead and did the car. Used the Bar Keepers Friend on the car and Protect-All for wax for the first time. I like it that I could just spray on the plastic trim too and wipe it off. Both vehicles look pretty good.
