While the answer of when to check the tire pressure is "COLD", the definition of "COLD" also needs to be explained. The definition of "COLD" is the condition where the tires have not been driven on for some time and their temperature is stabilized. However the actual temperature of a "COLD" tire needs to be taken into consideration. Because I live in a hot climate my "COLD" temperature could easily be 95* degrees in the garage. I found that I have to condensate 9 psi or when I travel to a colder area the tries end up low when they cool to say 55*. I use the following chart to determine my "COLD" pressure depending on the "COLD" tires temperature.

cold. always cold.

AND check early am before sun is on the tires. Those big black tires can absorb a good amount of heat before you hit the road.

It's best to weigh your motorhome to find the correct pressures. And, COLD is the time that you should check pressures. Your tires might even go up to 130 on a hot day.

On our Dynasty, our 'weighted' correct pressure is 110 (front tires). I keep 120 which is the max cold pressure. When it falls to 110 after 4 or 5 months, then I fill them back up to 120.

The drive and tag I keep at 105 but will fill them up when they fall to 95. The correct is about 90 for drive and 75 for tags. I keep them over inflated just for safety as the max cold is 120.

Install a TST Tire Pressure & Temperature Monitor and you'll never have to worry about or checking the pressures again (just turn on the monitor & you're done) !

If the temperature rises to dangerous levels (165* +) or if the pressure drops by x percentage or pressure the monitor alarm will sound to notify you.

Install sensors on your toad or trailer too & you'll know the pressure & temp while you tow !
