Wanting to use my iPhone 4

Hi there, I have an unlocked iPhone 4 that I would like to use as a pay-as-you-go phone in the U.S. as we travel. We live in Canada.

Any ideas who I could buy a sim card from to fit the phone? Walmart sells Net10 and
other brand cards that will fit my phone & use the ATT network. ATT seems to have the best coverage nation wide from what I've heard.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers, Lynne

Here is the H2O link - https://www.h2owirelessnow.com/pageControl.php?page=planMin

I had not checked the site for awhile and I see they have lowered the data usage cost to 10 cents a MB, still expensive but a third of what it was.

I use an ATT reseller called H2O (they also do Verizon) with an iPhone 3GS. Terrible customer service but most resellers have terrible customer service, luckily I don't need to call them often. You can pay by the month but I pay $100/year for 2000 minutes. You can even activate data at around 30 cents a MB which is way over priced but I don't use the phone much for voice so I turn on data to check eMail and such when I'm away from WiFi then turn it off again so the phone doesn't do a bunch of stuff in back ground and still have plenty of money in the account when I need to add another year (dollars roll over).

I also have an unlocked iPhone 4 and last winter signed up with T-Mobile on pay and talk.
It worked well in all my travels from BC to Arizona and all around Az. Much cheaper than tracfone. I buy extra scratch cards to renew and keep it active when at home,I just remove my Telus sim card and insert the T-Mobile and it roams me on Rogers then I renew, actually I do it on line also but I want the confirmation text to come to my phone to make sure it stays active, then I put my Telus card back in.

The first kiosk I went to in Washington State could not accommodate the pay and talk, but they sent me to one of the corporate kiosks in another city and the whole process only took a few minutes.
I hope this helps.

The Iphone does use a sim card...

and yes, Verizon uses one as well.

The biggest thing I like about SIM cards is that when your phone croaks, you get another one, pull the SIM out and stick it in the new phone and you're good to go.

The phones of yesteryear had to be taken to the respective dealer to have them use the computer to transfer the ESN from one to the other. What a pain.
I can't imagine any carrier not using SIM technology now.

A GSM Iphone uses sim cards and you can get a sim from TMobile or any GSM pre-paid carrier and start a pay by the month plan with data for those carriers - basically you are buying a fill card for the monthly amount and activating the phone. You just need to make sure that the no contract carrier will activate a phone not locked to their system. Most of them do. If your Iphone uses a micro-sim there are templates that you can use to cut a full size sim card down to size and there are several no contract/pre-pay carriers that will sell you a micro sim for the Iphone. My suggestion to you is go over to Howard Forums at www.howardforums.com and go onto the pre-pay, no contract forum and look at the various carriers. These forums will answer any question that you have to get your Iphone working on a pay as you go, no contract plan. Many, many there have done it.
