Can someone answer a questions about a class C?

Is there anyone online now that can answer a question concerning a class C?

IF the unit filled with propane.. The first thing to check is the knobs on the stove and oven.. Had a woman in the park where I winter looking for a technician to fix a propane leak in her rig.. I offered to take a look, (When it comes to propane I can look but I won't touch)

The stove knobs OFF OFF *on* OFF

That one was easy to fix.


If that is not the problem. Have a professional look at it.

Only reservation about that is if the master gas valve at the tank is faulty, there may still be a gas leak. Not to say this is common, but better safe than sorry.

I'd almost say to haul it back to a dealer so they can do a complete stem-to-stern check of the propane system and appliances for safety's sake.

If the gas is turned off at the tank, running an electric heater is as safe as can be.

I know everyone wants to help, and any advice given is in good faith. I hope that the OP will get back to us with the solution to his problem. Unfortunately some posts get out of sequence and the response can be confusing..but I'm learning.

You said you brought it home to winterize it. Therefore, you must have used the furnace previously at one time. Any problems then?

If you had that much propane coming into the RV to set off alarms, you definitely have a problem. Best to get it checked out, for sure, and make sure it's totally aired out.

I say take in it to the shop tomorrow and have them check the RV for leaks and let them winterize it for you while they are at it. Not getting that fixed will only cause problems. You never used the propane at all before? Not even to heat water or use the stove?

if it's a new rig and you didn't burn off the oils in the furnace first, that will set off the alarms.
dealer should have advised you of this during the PDI.

If the RV filled with propane, you have a leak or a broken propane line somewhere. Turn the propane off and air the rv out until you get it fixed. After it is aired out, use a stand alone electric heater set on low with all the cupboard doors open to keep the water pipes and drains from freezing. Get that propane fixed before you have an accident.

Furnace combustion air mixes with the propane for flame and then exhausts OUTSIDE the rv...........unless you have a cracked/bust combustion chamber no propane will come inside rv.

Check the stove top burners......make sure the knobs are turned OFF

Tried it one more time. Turned on the gas, burner came on with hot air coming out, alarm went off and wouldn't go off. No smoke, just the smell of gas. Turned everything off, aiared it out and will leave it for the night. Thanks for all of the suggestions. Much appreciated and I didn't get blown up. Nothing wrong with that I guess.
