Amazing things some folks do

I am amazed at the actions of some fellow RV campers do.

There's the fellow with blue gloves draining the grey and black tanks with gloves "blue" unhooks the sewer hose and then proceeds to disconnect the white drinking hose from the RV and sticks it in the sewer hose to wash it, RV connector to sewer RV connector, then coils white hose after putting sewer hose away still decked in blue gloves.

Or the guy with two white hoses, one hooked to the water spigot and the other one to the sewer cap, I wonder how many times he hooks them wrong?

I have white hoses for potable water, a gray hose to rinse sewer hoses and a blue hose to wash down the RV or toad, I always run some water prior to hooking up and make sure that the spigot gets washed too.

As some have mentioned you can not fix stupid.

Mr: Dtank

Used to have those flimsy food prep gloves that the wife bought, they are more hassle than what they help, hose slips and you end with a good hand rinsing, inside the glove.

Checked with the Hazmat unit where I worked and all agreed unless I have a bleeding cut, rub my eyes, suck my thumb, pick my nose, etc. there is very little chance of an infection, it is still our crap, just rinse with plenty water and was with soap.

No more gloves just the hoses, the only ones that I purchase on a regular basis are the white ones, they tend to leak at the connectors after a while and no amount of coaxing with pump pliers will stop the leak.

We're in full compliance on complete RV color compliance and coordination:

Our Class C coach box is white fiberglass with medium blue graphics. All water hoses are white to match the fiberglass. The automatic step carpet is blue to match the graphics. The coach batteries' case color is blue to tie in with the step carpet and graphics. The black tank emptying hose is, well, brown .... to match the you-know-what. However, we came up with these outstanding color schemes and themes without outside advice. We had to make all the decisions ourselves. We could have used some outside advice from experienced professional RV'ers. :B

That was covered in the RV owners handbook under rule 417, subsection C, paragraph II-3-B. "Hose color must match truck color".

We also talked about this in the town halls and weekly rv team meetings, not to mention it should be in your TPS report.

Did you get a copy of the memo? I'll make sure you get another copy.

After reading all three pages I learned a couple things.Come in and and park your camper before dark and get it level with the slides out.Don't hook up anything until after midnight or you might read about yourself on RV dot NET.I have a red hose that I wash my white truck with, now i'm afraid i'll be confronted by a meanie and told I cant use my red hose any more or I need to buy a red truck ๐Ÿ˜ž .

I may be unusual ... as I have learned a lot down through the years from others communicating with me. I'm glad many of these folks that did the teaching through advice didn't take the easy way out and merely mind their own business.

Advice can only be given when there is someone to take it - or at least listen to it and give some thought to it. Maybe that's a bit of a problem these days too - folks not being mature enough to take advice.

Of course when boondocking one doesn't have to give or take advice - for better or worse they're on their own. ๐Ÿ™‚

Your post assumes the giver of advice has a lock or at least know THE BETTER WAY to lead one's life. While I am sure you may not mean it that way, it may seem that way to others.

It is for this reason precisely that people should mind their own business.

It's the same kind of arrogance that leads religions to proselytize and evangelize to bring folks to the ONE TRUE GOD. Ie. The philosophy of: "I know better than you do" "I have a lock on the TRUTH"

I still think minding your own business is a vital part of a well functioning and civil society. And just plain good manners.

I watched a guy the other day in a newer 40' class A start it up, come out with a coffee in one hand and a doughnut in the other and open his water compartment and start dumping. After dumping,he hooked his water hose to his black tank and went inside to pull his slides in.He then hooked his water hose to the grey rinse and headed for his car. That's when I asked him how long he was going to be running his engine,I was downwind, and he said that he was getting ready to hook up his car and leave.By this time he was up to over 1/2 hour on his idle time and I really felt that it was time for a short class on diesel warmups. I am a certified school bus driver trainer. Told him that he needed no more than 10 minutes warmup and really 5 was good. He told me that he had been told that he needed at least 30 minutes to really warm it up by the salesman and I gave up then. Oh and he still had the hose hooked up to the grey rinse valve. I went inside and thought about having a stiff drink.
Oh and after all that, he got the car hooked up,shut down the rig and he and momma headed for the bathrooms. Go figger.

I'm camping at the beach right now and all of the picnic table have a little covered roof over them. Two days ago I guy was leaving and I watched him rinse out three sewer lines and proceed to hang them from the rafters of the shelter, dripping on the table for a good hour.
That's the first time in 15 years of camping I've reported someone for something. Maintenance guys came and replaced the table. The guy was laughing like whoever called was the idiot.

Boy guess I get an award too. Been RVing for about 60 years even built a couple slide in's with aluminum white sides like the real ones. I use blue rubber gloves mainly because my skin is getting thin as I age and maybe cuz the wife likes them. I have 30' of sewer hose most of the time and can reach 75' for water. And a couple colors of hose for odd jobs. We use for the most part bottled water for drinking and jugs for coffee, more cuz some water tastes bad, but brushing your teeth you can't tell. I wash everything before it gets put away in a cargo bin(guess I should have two one for fresh and one for the 3"(AH thats a joke). And at 68 years of age I could care less what other think or say. Oh yah I pee on the fire before bed so there's no coals. (AH thats another joke or haven't for 60 years)

Happy watching
