Camping Lights

Can someone explain the fascination with lights on an RV to look like a Christmas tree?? I'm seeing more and more with front cap lights on, under body lights, lights in tree around camp, rope lights on the ground, lights from the awnings, porch lights on. Last week saw one with all the running & tail lights on all night. I know I can't be the only one sees this as annoying.

We stayed at a campground a few years ago and had three travel trailers around us and all three had their trailer lights on and flashing 24/7. Want to talk about annoying.

You'd all hate me, we light up the trees in our campsite with the red and green laser lights, always get a lot of compliments on them.

I quite like those. It's a nice effect, especially when boon docking.
What I really dislike is scare lights or porch lights left on all night. The rope lights (warm colour) are nice.

See, there is a god. And I've camped next to this guy, usually on a holiday weekend, and ends up with the cops being called after the third fight breaks out.

What made builders think that those bright LED light strips on the front of trailers was a good idea? What purpose are they? JMO, but they are highly annoying.

I am with the minimalist crowd. A red rope light runs from the outlet by the steps & finishes wrapped around the 5er's pinbox. No excuse for walking into it.

As for the rest of outside lighting usually the only thing used is an old fashioned kerosene type lantern on the table or hanging somewhere. Amazing how well you can see once eyes adapt to available light.

Then there is light spillage from the camper lit up like Vegas nearby.
The led lights on the front usually light up the brand name of the RV for advertising.

Yes maybe I'm inconsiderate. Or on the other hand, maybe its you, the "I don't like it so no one else can do it" type of person (All about "ME" and what I like).
If the campground rules aren't to your liking, find a different campground.
See, that's the issue, you only feel you have to obey "The Rules", not think about the other people. I've made no mention about having rules against lights, just that I prefer the dark.

The difference between us is that I have no desire to make rules to enforce how I feel since I realize that other people like to do things differently. It's just how I feel about it. I would prefer the dark, but don't intend to force my preferred way of doing things on others, unlike the people who light up their area like Times Square and don't care, or even think about anyone else.

I have been told that lights UNDER the rig discourage insects and other pests. How true is this???? (Frankly I have no clue).

Itโ€™s far from a scientific conclusion, but, a group of us that routinely travel together are split between under coach LED lighting (white only) and the regular OEM โ€˜porch lightโ€™. It seems like the under body lighting attracts far less bugs, moths in particular.
