Camping World Quality

I am a big fan of Good Sams and Camping World. I shop their often, and it is not close to me.... Lately I have been having issues with the quality of the products they are selling.

Has anyone noticed the same?

It would seem that the quality of some of the products they sell are going down hill. For example, I purchased a clothes hanger, it broke almost within a week, I had it replaced at a camping world, same issue. Cheap plastic and poor design.

Purchased a water regulator with a gauge, the gauge is no longer working after only 3 months. No it is not clogged.

Purchased a outdoor patio mat, which in the past I could get a full season out of, now the mat is separating at the stitching.
Only had this item for 2 months.

This is not a complaint thread, I only wish to see if anyone else is having similar issues and hopefully call Camping World management to take action.

I would rather pay more for higher quality, you?

Thanks..

I try to find stuff on Amazon Prime so if I have to return it, I'm not responsible for any shipping charges. Secondly, the price is usually better at Amazon. There are times when we stop at a Camping World store, and if we find something we really want and the price seems reasonable, we buy it. Overall, if I don't find something at Amazon, sometimes prices at other internet rv stores are better than CW. But, CW does have a huge inventory...and due to that, a lot of stuff that is garbage or close to it!

I really wanted to ignore your comment but this thoughtless China Bashing is off target. Assuming you are an intelligent person I decided to give a try to increasing your understanding of Chinese manufacturing.

China makes many of the highest quality products you use in your home and office everyday. Almost all Hi-Def flat screens for TV's and computers are made in China Including Sony's(about 95%) Many of the computer chips that run your Laptop or computer are made in China. All Apple I pods, I pads and much of their computers are made in China and these are recognized as some of the highest quality products built anywhere.

The Chinese workforce is well educated, literate and motivated.

Does China make a lot of really cheap stuff...of course...but it's what has been ordered from the SELLER. They set the specs. They decide what they want to pay...and they get the product they pay for.

Blaming the Chinese is like shooting the messenger, they are making what companies are ordering.

The "Reds" as you call them are without a doubt at this point THE BIGGEST CAPITALIST country on the planet.

And I know this because I have worked in China, traveled from one end to the other of that country and bought many of these products and been in many Chinese factories on behalf of my own business and others. I have imported (to SE ASIA) many really high quality products from there)

And in the end we dont know where the products came from in the post above. It is just as likely that the Mat came from the Philippines, the gauge from Indonesia or Singapore etc.

The bad quality is coming from the BUYER not the Manufacturer.

sorry. anyone who believes that china is our friend is sadly mistaken.

I can't find the word "friend" in the post you quoted.

Buy "Made in America". Doesn't guarantee better product or quality, but makes me feel better.

Not as much a CW issue as the manufacturer's . You can buy an entry level RV or an upper end unit. They are, for the most part, going to have the same cheap plastic parts. I have had to paint my plastic exterior parts to minimize yellowing. We all know what I am talking about. The simple truth here is as long as we put up with it why should they up the quality? The profit margin on RV manufacturing is wide yet they still pinch pennies at our expense. And why not? We keep buying this junk. OK I'm gettin off my soap box now2.

Understood, no we don't winterize anymore. We use the RV year round, even at the house. It has never frozen that I know of.

I agree, lets not create a thread focused on China related quality.

My intent is to focus on the quality of items coming from Camping World, and honestly I do not care where they come from, in a way. ( to clarify, I believe in trying to buy things made in the USA whenever possible as I find they are generally of a higher quality).

But more to the point, as RVers we need the items we purchase to hold up and be designed as such. These items are not something we just put in our houses, they are exposed often to vibration, movement and the vi gars of an RV lifestyle.

Unfortunately, I have started looking away from Camping World and more towards items in the home stores, but as an RVer I want to support Camping World. Thus the reason for my thread. Maybe someone from Corporate will read this and take action.

This is also true of American made products. The "quality" is in the specs from the vendor, NOT the factory. I have bought JUNK that had the label "Made in the USA" affixed and believe me, it was pure junk. So country of origin has NOTHING to do with the product quality.

90%+ of the stuff we buy for our RV comes from the same place we buy stuff for our stick and brick. Home Depot, Bed Bath and Beyond, Amazon, eBay, Walmart., etc.
