Some folks know how to do it right. Some years back my wife showed a fellow camper an "up close and personal" photo of a bear and cub she took at Cade's Cove in the Great Smokey's. My wife waited patiently until he finally ran out of stream and then said just two words: "Zoom lens"... ๐Ÿ™‚

Had a similar experience in Alaska and grizzlies, everyone thought my shots were great but stupid. Then I would say long zoom from the window of the Denali bus.

It's remarkable that she made it to 72 before finally reaching the boundaries of her own common sense.

I'm sure it's tragic for her family nevertheless.

They say that being stupid is much like being dead.

Youโ€™re blissfully unaware of it, itโ€™s those around you that are saddled with the reality of it.

I grew up in Va Beach, and yeah we saw some of that, but not to the level of stupidity on a routine basis like you see or hear of in places like Yellowstone.
BTW one of my favorite memories was of watching a kid from somewhere out of our area who upon seeing the ocean, told his mother,,,,
"Look,,, It keeps flushing and flushing."

We learned about animals and human stupidity on our first trip to Yellowstone, after entering from the North we came to Mammoth and watched a woman coax her child, 3-5 years old, to get closer to the cow Elk, presumably so she could get a better photo, i don't think she realized that Mama Elk could stomp a Mud hole in that child before she could click the shudder. We kept moving, so Hopefully nothing happened to the child.
Almost as stupid as the woman that asked where she could go to pet the bears. :S She should probably go to Jellystone Park.:R

You don't often hear of someone from Wyoming, Nebraska, or Montana doing stuff like this.
