Curious

I have been on these forums for many many years now.
I am just curious as to why most reported thefts and crime are from the West and South West.
Seems the Northeast is kind of a nirvana compared to the rest of the country.

We actually had a very strange incident just last weekend while camping.

As we were approaching our trailer from an afternoon hike, an older clean cut gentleman exited our trailer.
We asked " Sir what are you doing " he replied " had to use the bathroom ".
We just looked at each other as he calmly walked away.....strange,nothing taken.

The kids were not looking for food in your cooler. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Totally agree. The West in particular is awful. Just trust me and stick to the Northeast.

Camping all my life, the only thing I have ever had stolen while camping was a small cast iron skillet, stolen at the point of a badge. To confess, was not in CG.
Once I was sitting in the shadows outside my camper, watched a pair of teens sneak up on my cooler and open it. Little dog growled, I told dog to stop, kids ran. Next morning, when the family was outside I took a big plate of pancakes down to them, thought they must not have enough to eat...

Only thing we've ever had stolen was at a music festival, and someone stole some beers out of a cooler that was sitting outside in the middle of the night ๐Ÿ˜‰

I have been camping in the NE for over 50 years because in live in CT. Never had anything stolen and always leave bikes etc era outside unlocked. I always believed that in general people that camp with their family would not steal from another campsite because they would not want someone to steal their stuff, unless they were the Millers.

the only theft from a campsite we have ever experienced took place in a state park in indiana. that was ~1987. most of our RV travel is west of the Mississippi.

I had a step ladder stolen 2 years ago right from under the camper (Indiana). Every since, we keep everything locked up if not in actual use. Yes, it's a pain in the neck, but nothing has come up missing since.

Then the SW is a bigger attraction for RVers with all the national parks, and snow bird destinations than the NW.
No one else has the BLM land either, empty, ungarded, remoteโ€ฆ
