Has anyone in the northeast dewinterized yet who hasn't headed south? Possibly taking a trip in the next week or two and wanted to clear out the antifreeze and fill the fresh water tank, but am concerned about temps still falling into the 30's at night. Just curious what others have been doing.

Stop and think how long it takes for even small ice cubes to freeze in your freezer!!!

If the midday temps get close to 50 degrees, you will likely be good down to 28 overnight. Water tank would take over a day to freeze even at 28 or so.

I will add that I don't use antifreeze in the water lines, traps only. I blow my lines, no flushing required.

Like I said, it would have to be 32 for a while to freeze things up. Not just a hr or two over night. Had one night hit 28*, but the day before was almost 70. No issues at all.

What a difference a week makes, temps are nice now. I will do mine today or next week as we head out May 1 for our first trip. Started doing things yesterday.

Finally got around to it yesterday. Flushed antifreeze, fillled fresh water tank, ran water heater, checked tire preaaure, and finished changing all bulbs to LED. Now I just have to take a trip somewhere! Thanks for all the suggestions, next year I may just blow out the lines.

For future reference, you may want to consider draining the antifreeze right after you use it. It's purpose is to displace any water left in the lines. Once it's done that, it no longer needs to be there.

I use air not pink stuff so 'dewinterizing' for me involves adding water and flipping on the pump.

I do it numerous times per winter so if the temps it means nothing to me.

I'm quite a ways north of you too.

our temps finally look like they will hold for some time. But it's always a risk before Mother's Day around Central PA. Still I dewinterized today. I will keep an eye on weather lows, and turn on furnace if there is danger. It certainly won't be for long, so with a little precaution should be ok, I'm figuring!

Temps falling into the 30's won't do any harm unless they fall to 32 or less. Even then, if daytime temps rise into the 40's+, you should be fine. What I do in iffy situations is set the furnace to lowest setting overnight If it's getting below 32.
