Driving Tunes

As we ready our rig for hitting the road, we'll crank up Driving-themed tunes to keep the mood going and lighten the chores. Finally remembered one that wasn't on my list: "Willin' " sung by Linda Ronstadt. It now joins "Magic Carpet Ride" and many others on the 'pod.

What tunes do you crank while prepping the rig and heading out of the driveway?

As I'm starting each trip - "Steppenwolf - Born to be Wild"
"Get your motor runnin', head out on the highway" etc.
My RV plays audio cassettes and CDs, and I also have XM Satellite Radio with a holster for it in in the RV, Toad, my daily driver and a separate boom box. I bought a lifetime subscription just before they merged with Sirius and stopped selling them.

Just bought an iPod classic 160gb as the 7 year old Toshiba Gigabeat's battery died (we can still crank up the tunes at home while working outside). Not wireless but can run on 12 volt or USB and plug into the speaker port in the camper or truck. Just need to add a stand alone speaker for outdoors when we boondock.

This is an apropos question as I am editing my music files, over 200gbs. Psychedelic, British blues-rock, country rock, southern rock, grunge, hair/arena, progressive, jam bands, classical, classic and contemporary blues, metal, 2000's bands and more. I love my music.

I am trying to think of on the road songs but we just use shuffle and drive on. "Against The Wind" Bob Seger comes to mind. "Up Around The Bend" CCR, "Wishing You Were Here" Chicago.

I opt for audio books via Audible.com. The anticipation makes even the 1/2 hour trip to our campsite seem long.

My all time fav group. Saw them play several times. Skynyrd is a close 2nd. The Brothers have great travelling music. Some of their longer jams are tailor made for cruising the road.
