Freshwater hose storage ideas

Need some ideas on a NEAT way of storing my 50' fresh water hose. Would like something I could store it in, and remove the hose and storage "device" from compartment.

Thanks in advance.

I see one other person mentioned what I do with hoses, which is a laundry basket. The one I have has a circular shape to it and the handles that are built in make it very easy and sturdy to grab and move about with the weight. I use additional laundry baskets for electrical cords and most of the items I store in the pass-through area.

I have bought every contraption and have thrown them all out. They either didn't work, where hard to handle or they took up too much storage bay space. I do sporting events where shore power is sometimes over a hundred feet away so I carry 'many' rolls of 100 ft hose and several 30 amp extension cords.

MEGA CUFF, the only way to go! Roll up electrical cords, hoses and clamp on the cuff, its' adjustable for tight fit and it has a handle to carry it. You now can lay all your cords and hoses 'flat' on top of each other in the bay.

Many hardware stores are now carrying Mega Cuffs in stock.

I am somewhat handicapped with back etc. Good hoses weight a ton, when you are bent over trying to get it out of a compartment or coil a stiff one up.
I like to use short ones that are light and easier coiled. A 25' seldom used, a couple of 15', and a couple of 10' and 4' and one 50' hardly ever used. Only enough hose(s) for the site.
Someone has got to be making a powered hose reel that will handle a 50'and fit a standard bay. Problem is it will take up space for other things. The way the things are now made might as well just buy a new one, at each campground, or look for the ones, on the picnic table I left across America. Just buy a bag one hose ends.

I would definitely buy a hose on a reel that is similar to the extension cord on a reel i have for camping. I wouldn't need a 50 ft one, but would love to have a 25 ft reel. I know they make them for the house that you wind up and back out, but they are just to large. Would love a more compact version to toss in the RV storage when packing up.

50' of hose is a lot of hose...especially when you try wrapping it up.

Might be able to coil it up inside a 5 gallon bucket....but don't know if that will fit thru compartment door of your rig.

Could cut it in half and install new ends (brass one...not those cheap plastic junk). Two 25' hoses are easier to coil up/stow. Plus usually only need one to hook up water.

I agree and I even cut down one of our 25' ones into a 10 and 15' length so with the third 25' section I have the option of 10, 15, 25, 35, 40 or 50' lengths to meet whatever I need. I couldn't envision messing with a 50' hose for a 15' hook up and then getting all the water out of it for long term storage so it would dry.

When traveling we often are parked at someones home. We've needed 50' of hose to fill our tank. I carry 2x25' and 1 10' hose.

I use cable clamps like pictured here already.

A small round clothes basket works great and is very reasonably priced in the dollar section at the hardware store. I use one of them for my 50 amp cord also.

I carry two 50', two 25', and a couple coiled hoses for the tank flush. I carry the larger hoses in a zippered bag, and the two short hoses just rolled up in the water area and the coiled hoses in a plastic tub. I know that it is a lot of hoses but needed them once so just leave them in the m/h.

That is going to be a big item to wrap up and store. I would think about where you camp, and estimate the longest you have remembered needing, and buy a shorter hose.

I can't say in 15 years of camping I needed a 50 ft hose to reach the water connection. But that is neither here nor there, just thinking outloud.

But I like someone's suggestion of a wreath storage bin. I know that doesn't help you as your hose is probably too big, but I just found a new idea! lol

I only buy 25 footers up front. Yep they will screw together.

For storage, I coil them up and toss in the basement as the last items. Then they are the first ones out and usually get tossed on the ground until it is time for use/ hooking them up.

It is interesting to see how much strain and effort some folks go thru on this deal.

Yep, this.

We have 2 x 25' hoses fastened together, coiled up, and then the open ends screwed together so they stay clean.

Milk Crates work great. Just google "milk crates". I use one for my power cord and extension cord and one for two 25' water hoses. The cords or hoses coil up inside and leave a open space in the middle for accessories.
