Gaudy colored and striped RV's

Why is it so popular to design trailers and motor homes with huge, bright stripes and decals. I call it gaudy and over the top. I don't know how many people would want just a solid color RV but why not more subtle. I equate it to the old days of cars which were covered in chrome, stripes and fins and many of us started to "customize" to get a less flashy look, then the European look became popular with little or no chrome, fewer ornaments, black bumpers and a lean mean look. I think we could use some of that with RV's ??

To the OP, if you don't like the graphics, talk with your wallet. In the mean time, leave the rest of us alone. I don't see anyone removing decals or repainting new RVs. Obviously you are in the minority. Don't see Mustang GT and Camaro owners removing decals either. And then there's Alaska Airlines.

I don't think anyone was telling anybody else their taste was bad. They were just suggesting they don't care for some of the current trends. No body was making or taking it personally.

This is the perfect subject to discuss here. Maybe somebody in the industry will read it and get a hint.

I wasn't talking about building RV's out of pallets as your "sic" seems to imply. And I'd point out that "sic" is used only when the original spelling is quoted; not, as in your case, as a means of attempting a correction.

Our little B van is plain white. It looks like a rolling refrigerator on the road. We don't care.

Although I don't care much for the swoopy graphics that are commonly seen, they do serve a purpose. They make very large RVs less intimidating.

The graphics were low on our list when we looked for our fifth.
Floor plan, structure, etc. were our concerns.

That's my style! Would love that on my RV, my decals are starting to fade. I even recovered my gaudy valances and removed the outdated wall paper border. Fancy don't make it better.

When I first saw a motorhome with full paint, painted graphics and clear coats,.....I said to myself that someday I will own one, gotta have it. By the time I saved enough money to write a check for one (the mostest I could afford), the "look at me" part of it did not have THAT big of an impact. When I parked in the shadow of a fresh 45 ft Newell, everybody wanted to look at the Newell (didn't blame them).
However, I felt that in order to justify spending the money on a new motorhome, one must use it for about 20 years.
The paint still looks almost new, EXCEPT from the gutter line up. The paint that they used (up in that area) was obviously substandard (the clear coat burned off in a few years).
I'm going to attempt repainting that area myself.
I still like the rest of the (main) paint job, and the graphics (they still look good):

I like my swirls, but this is full body paint, not decals....

I like graphics especially the one with the big kitty in the mountains in a prior post. A plain box on wheels would be boring.

A couple years ago, I pulled into a 59 south gas station when I came out with the requisite fried chicken I saw the most over the top decorated Class A rv with a crowd of folks standing around it taking pictures. It was the Girls Gone Wild RV, well decorated with their art.

Every other decoration scheme could be considered tepid.
