Here is my damage

Here is the damage from my Towmaster China Bombs exploding on I-64 this past weekend. We were going along about 60 mph in the right lane when all the sudden the front driver side tire cut loose. Luckily the real damage was contained to some wiring under the trailer and the fender skirt that got smashed into pieces. Four new Maxxis load range E tires will be ordered tomorrow. I was also able to order a new fender skirt from the dealer that I will replace on my own and I can also fix the wiring. I was always the one to think it wont happen to me......

Well I called them and they are going to send fedex to pick the tire up so they can inspect it. She says they will also reimburse me for the damage caused to the trailer as well as the cost of a new tire that I choose. We will see

If they do, it will be the first time I've ever heard of it.

Sincerely, good luck!

The Maxxis load range E should serve you well

The tires have a 5 year material/workmanship warranty. Did you contact Towmax? Curious because I own a set of them.

The most they will do is send you a new one, but who would want it?

They'll also tell you it was your fault.

My experience has been different. As I said above, on a prior TT I had an OE Milestar delam. I replaced with Maxxis, but pursued the warranty on the bad tires. Got a check that pretty much covered the new Maxxis.

There's only 1 check to perform. Look to see if they're "Blowmax" tires and if they are get rid of them ASAP.

Sorry to hear of your blowouts but you should be fine with the Maxxis. These tires (towmax) definately have issues and they should recall the lot of them. They all fail the same way (tread seperation). I replaced my towmax after a blowout and the remainder were seperating also at 4 years old. I replaced with Maxxis and no more problems, even after 25K miles of travel.

Save the blown tire, the manufacturer will want it. The manufacturer (Carlisle and goodyear) has always paid for tire replacement and damage to my trailer. Contact your tire manufacturer and explain the problem and they will give you instructions for the blown tire and to file a claim.

I check my tire pressure religiously. I am OCD about appearance and up keep of the trailer so everything was well cared for. Its even stored inside so the only time the tires are exposed to the elements are when we are camping.

Most likely someone will be along shortly and tell say you some how abused your tires as tires simply don't just come apart. Victims know better.
Your story is typical of ST tires even when they were all made in the USA so made in china is not the whole story.

You added load E tires I believe for more capacity which comes at 80 psi. Keep them pumped to the max so you can take full advantage of the new tires extra capacity. Derate them with lower pressures and you loose their advantage.

Sorry about the damage but the Maxxiss will be just fine. No need to go to LT's.

X2. And a tpms may not be a bad idea also. Even with good tires, its possible to pick up a nail or other debris that can bring grief.:B

No because I dont want to take the chance of having another one explode and do more damage. Luckily I can fix the damage done this go round, I might not be as fortunate next time. Take a look here. You may consider ditching those POS tires before it happens to you. Towmax failures
