I got lied to...

My aftermarket NWAN rv warranty expires this April. I purchased the warranty when I bought the rv in 2015. The rv is a 2006 class c.
NOW... I called the warranty company 2 times and spoke to 2 different reps once in 2016, and again in 2018 about getting another warranty when this warranty expired. I was told both times that because I already had a policy, that I could purchase another warranty even though my rv was over 10 years old... (grandfathered in) So today I called only to be told that I could not get a new policy and that there was no way anyone from that company would have told me that I could get another policy....
Now before anyone here says "see.. Aftermarket warrantys are junk... Etc... " I was extremely happy with the warranty, and never had a problem with any covered repairs. But I hate being lied to

Unfortunately without a paper trail you have nothing at all.

Start your own warrantee fund. My guess is that you will pay less out of it than the policy cost you.

Most RVs are built like **** and barely last 10 years. No wonder no one wants to insure it for repairs.

Lots of good lessons here, that maybe some haven't had the unfortunate experience of learning early in life or may not have realized the lesson to be learned.
Personally I learned some of these things the hard way, or maybe not by choice, would be a better descriptor.
Insurance/warranty (using these 2 terms synonymously for this purpose) companies are FOR PROFIT businesses. They hedge their profits on the risk people are willing to take. Not much different than walking into a Casino, other than the "payout" is a bit more altruistic in nature than hitting it big at the blackjack table. Combine this with our society that has mandated insurance for many things, these companies have a captive audience that includes EVERYONE in the country save for the few that are well off enough to self insure and the dregs of society who don't give a _____ and are the reason insurance laws exist in the first place.
What can we as consumers do? Just be a little smarter. Be more engaged. Try to learn something today that can help you tomorrow and not be a mush brain slug addicted to Facebookor The Voice reruns.

Once one learns a little, gets stung a little by the "insurance" or "warranty" biz, they can be a little smarter about it next time.
One objective word of wisdom, is trust no one but God and your mother! If you assume everyone else is not of the best intentions until proven otherwise, you'll be much more knowledgeable and successful in life, in general.

As with any insurance, underwriting requirements change.

I suspect the reps told you what was true at the time you asked the question. Your claims history will be figured into the underwriting classification too so that may have had an impact.

"Definition of warranty
: a usually written guarantee of the integrity of a product and of the maker's responsibility for the repair or replacement of defective parts"

Source: Merriam-Webster dictionary.

The RV is a 2006 model year. It is 13 years old. By any reasonable expectation a warranty - even an extended one - is no longer applicable. Anything that breaks at this point is simply worn out, it is not defective as produced by the manufacturer.

What the OP should probably look for is some sort of service, repair, and maintenance contract - although I do not know if such a thing exists for RV's.

In 2010 we bought a new Ford F-250 diesel. We purchased an extended warranty before the factory warranty expired. When the policy arrived we saw the extended warranty started and ended when the new truck warranty expired. Took a lawyer and a Ford service executive to get it straightened out. Now the extended warranty expires in August 2019.

I specifically told each rep the age of my coach and the reason for the call and inquiry was to make sure I could continue coverage with a new warranty thru them when the original policy was about to expire. I don't know how much more explicit I could have made the question and inquiry

Call it what you like..:R

OK - you were lied to. The req's changed, etc., etc.

"WE" (posters) can't help you..:S

IMO - you're better off without the warranty anyway! Put the premium amount/s in a dedicated bank account - and move on to the next rant.

Iโ€™ll say thereโ€™s a sucker born every minute!
I couldnโ€™t imagine getting, or the cost of a warranty on a 9 year old RV, much less 13 years old!

You want another warranty for a 2006? wow. even if they gave you one it would cost an arm and a leg. just save the money for future repairs...which you will have.

When we purchased our motorhome, my wife and I were going to get the extended warranty until I saw the costs. We decided to open a joint savings account that we would both put a little money in each paycheck. When we get our tax return, we deposit it into this account. It's our fix-upgrade motor home account. Unless we have something catastrophic happen the the RV, I don't think I would ever break even from the extended warranty that I was offered. I am really surprised to see insurance companies offer an extended warranty on a unit that old. But if I was the OP, I would be annoyed as well if I was told something that wasn't correct. Although policies do change over time.

i believe the problem is that you USED the policy. they only want to sell it. not have you really use it.

as that costs them money.

if you had never called in a claim, they would gladly have taken your cash for another "policy". laughing all the way to the bank.
