Do you put out a sign telling the world who you are? I would like to see the unique ways this is done. This is how we do it.

PVC flag contraption that spins in the wind. The counter weight is our trailer made from wood and a glued on Pic. Other side has our names. DOG was jealous---had to make him one too.

I was thinking the same thing. I really wanted to see all the signs and maybe links if anyone ordered theirs online. I like what I'm seeing so far. I chucked at the "Duke" placard. 😉

I will post the link to where I bought mine davosfam. I actually bought it off ebay but they do have a website. I did buy the smaller sign from them directly. I will say they did an excellent job and if I remember right it took almost exactly a week from the time I ordered it, to my door. The detail in the carving is awesome!!

Hmmmm .... we never do this at campsites.

However, I do Photoshop out my RV's license plate whenever I show photos of it in these forums. 😉

WE have a sign (no pictures on this new computer) that we hung out on pin box at each cg site.

It is a sign with both our names and our dogs name with a 5th wheel like ours 2 chairs and a campfire.
And a big WELCOME.
Is it time for your medication or mine?

You have to realize that most of the members are Americans.
They live a completely different lifestyle than
we Canadians.

I often think of this as I watch the five and six year olds walking home, unaccompanied from school.

Drive through a similar sized town in the States
you will seldom see a kid on the street!

Not all of us. Some of us wanted to see the signs but people cannot keep themselves from posting off topic.

All anyone at a CG has to do is casually start a conversation to find out the town where someone lives and there name.

My sign isn't even on my list of worries.

I'm more worried about the local crooks noticing I'm not home every weekend and breaking into my home.

A placard on my RV door. Since I never removed it, my GF and I have to assume the personas of the previous owners when we camp.

I prefer my privacy, and wouldn't do so also. But, I do like the OP's innovative sign and flag pole combo made from PVC. 🙂

What has not been covered in this thread is that perhaps those with the sign out are full timers, with out a S&B left behind to ransact?
When I see a sign out, I take it as an invitation to approach them if we have common interests.
These are the travelers who invite making new friends without paranoia.
Full timing, away from family, friends, roots can be lonely if not for the new friends made along the way with similar interests.
Thats why RVillage.com was created.

we just don't find a need to put out a sign.

I don't like the PVC/homemade holders. they are ugly in my eyes.

We like 'less is more' around campsites. I don't need to know where anyone is from, I can look at the truck license plate and realize you are from X state :), but just meeting people and chatting is the way we do it. if we meet and chat, cool. If I didn't meet ya and chat I don't really need to know where you are from....:)

Personally I'll never do it. Was reading something once where names on personalized license plates are not a good idea. Someone approaching you in a parking lot and calling out to you by name is a good way to catch you off guard and be able to get closer to you (especially bad for women if the person approaching has abduction and rape in mind) bad enough for anyone if they have robbery in mind.

My company frowns on wearing our badges outside of work for security purposes. I usually remove it and stick it in my pocket as I am leaving work. I have forgotten a few times and still had it clipped to my collar. I have on occasion had some smart aleck mess with me by calling out to me by my first name and talking to me like they knew me and asking me how I'm doing. It's a bit unnerving realizing I allowed them to violate my safety zone by approaching to close while I'm trying to remember who they might be and where I knew them from. I've also had pan handlers asking to "borrow" $20 dollars at Walmart at 2 AM because they needed gas, some oil, baby formula or a fan belt for their truck so they can get home telling me they worked where I did and did I know so and so and they would pay me back by sending me the money later in the company mail. Walmart's around here don't sell no fan belts.

I'm not paranoid, I just don't like advertising to other people I don't know, who I am.

May the force be with you.
