We spent the winter in phoenix az,as thousands spend time in the state of arizona.Never had a issue with a non resedence rule.It was money in arizonas pocket.
Las Vegas, new one year rule.all visiting folks who stay in vegas over 30 days need a permit from the dmv($12.00)alliwing them to stay. The Constables in vegas have nothing better to do than drive thru parks and record licence plates and how there here.I know,as do others,we got a notice that we were in violation of the 30 day rule, and will pay $100.00 fine and either get nevada tags and licence,or get the permit, but the $100.00 fine must be paid first. The Constable ststed no one anymore will stay in vegas with out permits, and since its a very new rule, there making money had over fist with wintering folks, besides,we need the money.
Just passing this along folks.

Only if you're a resident of Nevada and employed in Nevada according to this official site.

Vehicle Registration

Also, the $12 ID permit being mentioned is for residents, not visitors.

$12 ID Cards

Folks, all this has been speculation about a year ago and no visitor fee is in any regulation. If you can post an "official" site for this so-called fee, please do.

Didn't go to Nevervada but spent over a month in Az last year. Took Daughter a bunch of stuff she left at home and in the hospital and just kicking back and enjoying the desert.
Didn't know it was criminal.

Non-Residents:

Certain non-residents also must register their vehicles in Nevada. You must register your vehicle here:

if your vehicle is operated in Nevada for more than 30 days in a calendar year
if you engage in a trade, profession or occupation or accept gainful employment in Nevada
if you enroll your children in a public school in Nevada
if you furnish a vehicle to a Nevada resident for continuous use here

To me and I am not to smart the key word here is "operated" and to me that means driving into and out of the state all other times are not operated but idle. Dang sounds like a street corner lawyer. But if I had the money I would fight it on those definitions. But like I said not to smart.

After 7 pages

It has to do with Las Vegas (Clark County) NEVADA

30 days (+) within 12 month period

$12 for 'permit'

Now I would like someone to post a link to the actual 'ordinance' that lays out the permit, cost, enforcement, requirements etc.

Until the actual ordinance link is provided.........it's just hear say/internet chatter.

So 'jetboat' got that LINK?
Is it time for your medication or mine?

thanks for the responces from those in vegas. Only my opinion, but a constable is just above a security guardat the local bowling ally. And since i promessed my daughter ia would do the remodelon her home, and it will take mounths,we will get plates, drivers licence, auto insurance here, and when done early next year, were gone, back to texas, and reregister all over again.and if we visit,we will fly,and use my familys cars.Vegas is hurting with lots of things, and any revenue is money, not the $12.00,just the whole idea.If they only knew how much there really loosing.

Years ago, I was working in Colorado temporarily. I as stopped by the local Popo for the same thing. Many States have this or a similar law.

Correct and money has a little to do with it as well. Constables get paid based on their work. They as with any county agency have to justify their existence. Local LE will almost never bother a RV or tourist, unless your actions need attention. Constables are not LE. They have extremely limited powers.

They need to get money the sneaky way, instead of being up-front and clearly post it. It is like the old one horse town on a highway, the cop hides behind a bush and tickets everything that is moving 1-2mph. faster than the posted limit. I would guess they would ticket the one horse in town if going too fast.
As for the sneaky ways to get money it would be impossible to post every single law. We also don't sit behind the bushes waiting for the one going 1-2 mph over. The ticket would never fly in court. Cacoon

I see on many post's they talk about a 12 dollar permit fee to allow you to stay longer. Where can i find that info. I have some knowledge of laws. The constable's office here has had alot of issues. They need to justify their existence. We do have a problem with out of state registered vehicle. IF you drive Las Vegas you will see numerous out of state plates all over Vegas not tourist area. Most from California and Oregon. Most are residents. The intent was to target those folks, not RVs or toads for seasonal residents. Local LE can't stop a vehicle just for out of state plates. If your stopped for a violation with out of state plates and LE can verify your a resident then you can be cited. Constable's have to prove same thing. I have never seen or heard of this 12.00 permit, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Its always funny when I see a out of state plate but their registration on that same plate has a Nevada address.

2 different places, 2 different rules...So I take it the issue is not with AZ it with Nevada.

Thanks for the info. We had intended to visit Nevada this winter but don't intend to stay for more than a week anyway. We'll put this one in the memory bank!
