I was lucky to land the last spot at my first choice USFS CG. Bad news, they have the water pump shut down.

Am I missing something

, didn't the OP ask "

Where are you camping"

This weekend? Not why you won't go....

Yup.
Home IS an answer for WHERE are you camping.
And I don't think anyone is breaking any forum rules in adding why. :W

We must be willing to get rid of the life we've planned,
so as to have the life that is waiting for us.

I'm trying something slightly new this year. I'm going to the same park I sometimes do but, the park is a "First come, First serve" type park. so to get in you have to take your camper down on the holiday weekends a week in advance or you don't get a spot. But, this year there were suppose to be strong storms with hail all week long and I didn't want to leave my camper there. The rules say the only way to reserve spot is to put something in it. So I rented a spot, paid for it, then I put a tent, some lawn chairs, some firewood, and a cheap portable grill in the spot.

There was a big storm with high wind and hail there yesterday so I'm glad my camper was safely home in the shed. But, I'm a little afraid when I show up that my spot will have been taken by someone else when the wind blew the tent away.

I guess I just have to be wait and see. Not something I'm good at.

That's an interesting strategy.

The parks around here mandate the person who paid for the site must occupy it the first night, and then someone must occupy it every night after through check out.

I think some of the parks let you park a hunting trailer in a site during off season, and it can be empty up to half of the nights paid or something complicated like that.

I'm not telling you if or where til I get back (if I'm going that is ) but I find it funny that so many claim headaches camping over the big holidays. I guess everybody has their own experience, but I have to say, we've done nothing but state parks over holidays and have never had an issue with crowds or traffic. Most summer weekends at these places are busy anyhow, but when the campground is full, it's full, no matter if it's a normal summer weekend or a holiday. The biggest difference I've seen is when to book. Major holidays better be booked almost a year in advance or you're not getting a site. Regular summer weekends you can do a month in advance usually. Have fun and be safe, all!!!

Right in our own "back 40".

Our Spring time camping came to a end last weekend. Our camping excursions will not begin again until the day after Labor Day. Then we're hitting the trail again for a couple of months. That has been our annual routine for several years since retiring. ๐Ÿ™‚

Staying at home. Once I'm able to stash my rig in the driveway, things will definitely change, but for now, I want to be well out of the way of the drunks. (Austin DWI used to be the most expensive search term on Google, ad-wise.)

Gonna stay in the driveway. Having a yard sale to support my newly acquired RV accessory habit. Then gonna try to figure out why the AC airflow in the back half of my trailer is lacking. Probably a bad duct connection (oh the fun of the search ๐Ÿ™‚ )

Like others, a bit to busy out there to go to a CG.
