BarneyS,

Sounds like you are near West River Rd area. We'd camped, trail motor biked, snowmobiled, canoed, and even horse backed the area several times around the Brown Bridge Dam, Scheck's Place, Forks, and Ranch Rudolf area and got to know it quite well. Very nice large forested fun area. Of course, that was when we were younger and the joints worked better! Fond memories...
A superb CC LB 4X4, GM HD Diesel, airbags, Rancho's, lots more
Lance Legend TC 11' 4", loaded including 3400 PP generator and my deluxe 2' X 7' rear porch
29 ft Carriage Carri-lite 5'er - a specially built gem
A like new '07 Sunline Solaris 26' TT

We'll be boondocking on a paper company tree lot in the southern Adirondacks with our two daughters and their SO's. Our permit only allows one RV, so they'll be in tents this time. There are only three permits still active for a couple of hundred acres of woods, so we don't expect to have any neighbors. No new camping permits are being issued...

We will go up on a Wednesday and probably come back a week or more later. No crowds and the roads are not packed.

This looks nice! What area in northern MI?

Up in the Traverse City area. My two sons and I put in three full hookup campsites and another 30amp electric site for grandkids with a popup. They get water from a Y on one of our hydrants.

Also there is a large pole barn on the property for keeping the dirt bikes, 4 wheelers etc. My oldest son keeps his trailer in the barn during the winter. We also put in a nice pistol shooting range
.
The pictures were taken a couple of years ago before the grass had really started growing. It looks like a beautiful park now and is surrounded by state park land and backs up to the Boardman river.

That's awesome! gorgeous area up there. We are headed to Young State Park for the week leading up to Labor Day and then to my bosses property in Vanderbilt for that holiday weekend. I LOVE northern MI, but the problem is, so does everyone else! lol

Both our daughters have TT's and since they're still working, they like to get away for the Holiday weekends with the husbands and kids. We'll be going locally to an RV park near Solvang (Danish town in Buellton, California)

Had to use a vacation day to get Sunday off. And back to work on Monday.

So it's camp back yard at mom and dad's house. Brother and sister are coming up so it's all good.

You are correct, so how is this? I will be going to Camp Backyard RV Resort. :B

Campgrounds are crowded enough on regular weekends without having all the amateurs out on the holiday weekends. Drunks, noise, crowding, chaos, no thanks.

We are mulling over the prospect of camping at Sardis Lake (Mississippi) not far from our house. There is a COE first-come, first-serve campground there and we may go the Wed. before and try and get a shady spot. The state park campground that takes reservations and is next to the COE has been booked for a while. Wouldn't normally go on such a busy weekend, but will be starting a new job soon and this may be my last chance for an extended weekend camping trip.

Brown County State Park in Southern Indiana. Being retired, we typically avoid camping over the three summer holidays unless we find ourselves in the middle of a road trip. But this time, we'll be group camping with a number of others in the family who aren't similarly blessed. As for the crowds, I kind of enjoy the busyness of a campground filled with kids for a change. Reminds us of camping when ours were that young.
