My state doesn't recognize my motor home

We recently 45 days ago to be exact purchased a MVP 19rbs. I've been waiting for the registration paper work to get the plates. Today I went to the county web site to see what I had to do to get extended temporary plates. I had to go back to the lender to find out what was going on. They stated that the state is not recognizing the manufacturer of the motor-home. Really? Granted they are no longer in business but to say my RV is non existent. I will be able to get another 45 day temp plate but after that; Hopefully it will be cleared up soon.

WA does it. Not with vehicles you have owned over 90 days prior to moving, but ALL RV's, boats, quads, bikes, etc get a full 9.5% "use tax" based on the bluebook value before you can title or register them, unless you show proof of tax paid up to that % amount. If the tax was less then you pay the difference. There are a few legal hoops you can jump thru to get some of the value knocked down and some less above board methods to get out of paying it, but it's tough.

Hence the reason I registered all my off road vehicles that I had yet to pay the use tax on in WA here in AK for 6 years! When I go back next year I'll have valid tags for everything for 5 more years! Screw them. How do they get away with taxing me on something I did not purchase there and has had tax paid on it at least once already..........by someone?

my ex son in law and daughter bought a new truck in CA, licensed it in CA,, move to Oregon and got plates here, things didn't work out for them, he moved back to CA,, and before he could license it again in CA, had to pay the taxes on it again.

Not sure why they even need to see your SS card, all they need is the number. Not a valid gov. issued ID.

DMV's and vehicle licensing entities SUCK in general.
We've moved alot and get a different hassle in each state, the latest being AK wont isue me a drivers license because my SS card was laminated..........30 years ago! (When I was a kid, I got my card around 10 yrs old and laminated it so it would last). Have not had one single employer or DMV in 10 different states give me grief about it until here! 😞

yep it is. awhile back my son got pulled over for swerving to miss a dog. city cops ran the plate. came back to a sedan. not a SUV it was a ford explorer. The state in their infinite wisdom registered it incorrectly. when I asked the cop why I had to pay for the states mess up. he just stated the corporate line.I HAD to pay for vin inspection because they messed up. new registration. what a mess.

This is how bureaucrats operate. Rules are rules, procedures are procedures, and it's never their job. There is absolutely NO room for common sense in a bureaucracy. But you ain't heard nothing yet. Wait until we have to start dealing with the IRS regarding our health insurance starting next year!

In NH, my local town hall was telling me that my Carriage Cameo was a Ford. I finally spoke directly with a supervisor at DMV and found that they can search by manufacturer rather than VIN if they have to. Their VIN data was off by a character or two...easily fixed, at least here in NH.

Have them search by manufacturer.

At least where I live, I've dealt with that kind of uphill battle in local government offices before. So the last time I had to register my current daily driver at the DMV, I considered packing a lunch. There's usually 30 or more people waiting, but there were only 4 others there.
When I entered, I took a number and it was called within 5 minutes. That person did what they had to do and sent me to the next station. That person had my info in front of them, and did what they had to do. Two more folks and I was done and out of there. I could have left the engine running. 🙂
And now, after the initial registration, annual renewals are done by mail or on line.
