Need Help - Outside Water Connection

NOT the incoming water connection - the outside "rinse your feet off" connection.

What do I do to get these connectors to go together?

The connections are very similar to male & female air hose connections. The male-ended connectors will not go into the female fixture on the outside of the trailer. No matter how hard I push I can't even begin to get the fixture in.

The only time the trailer's outside water is "used" is when winterizing, and the past three years the trailer was in the shop for other stuff so we had them winterize as well.

Mine had a tag on it saying to use a screwdriver and hammer and tap gently. I finally decided I didn’t need the coupler shut off so I took it apart and removed the valve inside. Couples Easy now. I rely on the hot and cold faucet valves in the trailer to shut off the water, why not the outside faucet? Works great!

I had some trouble with my connection a while back. I ended up giving it a squirt of WD40 and had to use some force to get it to snap together. I snapped it on and off several times and it seemed to free up. Lack of use I suspect. I agree with Halmfamily, it's easier to plug it in when there is no pressure on the system.

Have two of these on our FW. I have to shut off the water and relieve pressure in the system by opening a faucet. Once pressure is relieved it plugs right in. I have gotten in the habit of connecting it before I hook up the water at camp and just leave connected while at camp.

Are you sliding the sleeve on the female portion back so as to expand the balls in the connection?
Do you have matching connectors? You may end up buying new matching sets at your local hardware store.

its also easier when the inside water lines are not pressurized. Turn off the outside water then turn on a faucet till all the pressure has gone down and try it again

Never push on a check valve with anything unless there is no pressure behind it. Drain all pressure, push the check valve, then start the pump for a few seconds or open a tap slightly. Do not let pressure build up.

If you push on a check valve when it's under pressure, you will blow the valve and need to replace it. Simple to do, but not necessary.

stand to the side use a screwdriver and push the ball in then it will go in
