Need Help. Sofa stuck in bed position

I put the jack knife sofa down into the sleeping position last night, and now I can't get it back up and into the sofa position.

Hubby just had shoulder rotator cuff surgery and is in a lot of pain and cannot do anything to help me.

We never use it as a sofa, but last night for probably the second time, I put it down into the sofa position. It didn't want to come down easily and the back seemed stuck to the wall.

Now, I cannot get it back to the sofa position and hubby can't help because of his shoulder.

I'm not sure if it's broken, or operator error.

I pulled the lever under the bottom of the sofa, but then what? Do I push, pull up, or what? I've tried pushing, pulling, swearing and nothing works.

We're trying to rehab him and this sofa in the middle of the room is not a good thing.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated!!

Do you have something stored between the sofa and wall or underneath that is stopping it from going back into the sofa position?

x2 check what's in the storage area first to make sure it's all laying flat below the couch line.

It's a fine dance of lifting up ever so slightly and at the same time pushing it forward.

Before getting hurt get one of your neighbors to help you fold the darned thing back, some of this contraptions can be hard to fold even for a strong person.

If yours is as difficult as ours, it isn't broken.

Typically, I push the lever, and it doesn't seem to do anything.
I huff and puff and cuss a little as I push the front up and try to pull the back forward. I sigh. I do it again. It seems to be stuck as I check each side and the back - not hung up on anything. I cuss some more and resume pushing and pulling. I check the stuff under the sofa in the drawer, making sure nothing is getting in the way. I continue huffing and puffing and, when I am ready to give up again, it folds back up.

You would figure I would learn not to use it, as I have done this half a dozen times...

My experience this way is limited, but here goes....
Some have a keeper under the bottom half and some don't. Try to lift the aisle side. If it lifts, put your shins against it and reach over to the wall. Throw your weight back and that will both lift the far edge and your legs will push on the near edge. It should start to side.

Good Luck

With ours, I just pull the isle side, out and up, forming sort of a (V)and push it towards the outside. It slides back and up into the sofa position. Hope this helps.
