No #2 Rule?

So I get an email from a camping buddy this morning who was telling me about his friend who invited him on a guy's weekend in his Class A to attend an event. So my buddy decided to go, and when they arrived at the event, camping site were set up in an adjacent in a field, but they had full hook ups. (My buddy has a huge Class A DP, but figured it would be fun to let somebody else drive for a change.)

The RV owner announces to the group that there will be no #2 in the RV toilet, only #1. Anybody needing to do #2 was to use the porta-pottis that were set up. Apparently this was not just because it was a "guy's weekend", but the guy has owned several RV's, and has always adhered to a "no #2 rule" for the family. His explanation was that it "caused problems dumping the tanks".

Personally one of the reasons I own an RV is to avoid having to use a port-potti for anything, let alone #2.

So the question for the forum is, does anybody else have similar rules on the RV bathrooms regarding the toilet, shower or anything else?

Sit down when voiding your bladder, guys. I watched a show where they dumped some dye in the toilet and after men with good aim went, they showed the splatter all over the walls and cabinets with special light. Good aim just doesn't cut it. The other bathroom rule is clean out the shower drain filter gizmo when your shower is done.

Some of these folks are like the person that pulled up to the other side of the dump station I was using. Thank goodness I had completed dumping, and had stored my hoses, elbow, and sewer pipe connector. He just pulled out his dump hose, connected it to the trailer, and just laid the hose out on the ground with the opening pointed toward the drain. Then opened valves and let both tanks just dump out into the open. At least he did raise the cover over the drain, so that most finally ran into the drain after spreading over the entire dump area. I just pulled clear of the wet area, then got out and finished closing up my bins and locking everything up. And he had an elbow for the end of the hose laying right there inside his wet bin, next to the valves.

No rules either. If the kids bring friends or we have extra family we take it a step further and use both bathrooms.
That means the potential for twice the amount of #2's.
Amazingly it all flushes down a sits in the tank until its time to dump.

I'm way more grossed out by public bathrooms then my own. While I don't agree with banning guest from getting full use out of the toilet, maybe I can follow the distorted logic.
However for the RV owner themselves to prefer to use public facilities vs. using their own toilet is incredibly irrational to me.

We have a couple of friends who will not use the "facilities" in their RV.

The 1st one bought their TT used and the previous owner had pyramided the black tank so they are leary to put anything but #1 in it. Paper goes in a bag for the dumpster.

The 2nd won't use the shower because they are afraid if they use it the shower stall it may leak. Third TT and still won't use the shower.

We bought ours because we did not want to use public facilities. Probably why I have 1.5 baths.

Dumping and flushing is no big deal but some act as if the world will end if they have to dump a tank.

Have met several people who use the shower for a pet's bed or storage. Seeing the size of some showers I guess I understand but I would not buy a RV with a restroom that was not functional and comfortable to use.

I take the youth from our church on two camping trips each year and during those times, it's no #2 in the RV.

The first time I took them, it took me several days to clean out the tanks because of so much tissue being put in there. I learned my lesson quickly, so no #2s in my pot. They can walk the 100 yards or less to the bath houses and use it. If it's the middle of the night, I will even walk with them.

Anyone staying with us in our TT can use the facilities for #1 or 2. The only time we limit is when the family is dry camping more than 4 days. Then we all try to use the camp bathroom during the day if possible so the DH doesn't have to move the TT to dump before we are ready to head home.

Hahahaha, my brother in law recently ('bout 2 years ago) bought a really nice 5th wheel, and has been camping with us in it ever since (we have a class A MH).

He tried from day 1, to lay down the law that nobody could use the shower, nor do a #2 in his RV's bathroom. His wife (who is the primary bread-winner in that family and basically makes the payments on it), pretty much told him where he could put that rule (right up the same place where that #2 comes from, hahahahaha!!). Said she would use ALL the RV's facilities for what they were intended for, and he'd just have to get over himself. He didn't like it, but he knew that was a battle he couldn't win, so he got over it, just for her.

Soooo, *SHE* is allowed to use the shower, bathroom in it as she pleases, but nobody else can that stays with them in their RV. Drives his kids and mother in law (when she travels with them) absolutely crazy. 🙂

But, Don, to answer your question: No, we do not, nor have we ever had such a ridiculous rule with ANY of our RVs over the years. We use all the 'facilities' in our camper for what they were intended for.

JMO and to each their own, but seems like it kinda defeats the purpose of having an RV if you put restrictions like that on how it is to be used.

That is rude if you ask me.

I would never do it,nor would I accept any such "invitation."

You should accept your guests as they are, # 2 and all. If not, do not invite them.

If they need help about the special aspects of an RV, help them.

We use it for everything, use lots of water, dump when needed, and flush as often as possible. We bought it to use, and would rather use ours than theirs. If you ever work as a host and have to clean restrooms, you see enough to keep out of public restrooms forever! The way some people use the public restrooms, I would not let them in our bathroom under any conditions. I would hate to see their bathrooms at their homes.

I don't get it......

the difference. at home it goes directly into the septic tank. no middleman and no emptying/cleaning/etc. of the tank.

We have a foot flush on ours, and I found out that if you lift the lever with your toe it fills the bowl with water. Fill it to residential level before you start #2 and when you flush it leaves no skid marks or anything that requires brushing, just like at home. Plus that guarantees that you have enough water in the tank to drain out the solids when the time comes.

Our last guys trip was fishing on Lake Erie, rained for 4 days straight. Hard to tell a buddy to hike out in the pouring rain when you have a facility right there. Yes, it's a more cleaning, but hey...I invited the guys to camp with me in my RV, I'm not gonna make 'em feel like second class citizens because I put too much hot sauce in the chili!!

Don't do 'public showers/toilets' so it's best that I use the RV toilet & shower for my duties......otherwise the neighbors complain.

Funny how folks go shopping for that 'just right/special' rv.....the right floorplan, color, arrangement, full bathroom/just toilet room, stove, double sink etc. and then don't use all of that stuff.

Those that don't #2 in your RV toilet......same go for the toilet at home?
NO...why not? What's the difference?
