We have had a Passport America membership for years and wouldn't leave home without it. Agree that there are lots of restrictions, but they are clearly spelled out so you know ahead of time where you can use it. The cost is so reasonable that you only have to use it a couple times a year to have it pay off.

It works fine if you can or will use the membership parks and the stay lengths and blackouts work for you (these vary from park to park). East Texas has a lot of PA membership RV parks, so it would probably work well for you, might get the membership fee back in two or three nights.

I haven't joined because most of my RVing is local, at COE facilities and state parks, and the few PA membership parks in NE Oklahoma are less amenable, harder to get too, and more expensive even at half price, and I usually stay 4-12 days.

Another satisfied customer here. Often if you ask, the time PA discount is allowed will be extended if they are not busy. We probably do not actually save money because if there was no PA discount we would boondocking or stay in a cheaper cg. With PA we have the benefit of nicer digs.

camp4less.com Look at their web site and see for yourself. Parks are free to impose whatever restrictions they want as to how many sites available, number of days, black out times etc. Its a fairly good program in my opinion but like any other program you need to use it to make it pay for itself. Having an open mind is good when using some of the parks but if all you need is an overnight then most are well within the acceptable range and some are really nice parks. Like most things, it can vary widely.

We are full timers and lifetime Passport America members. Our membership paid for itself in the first year. We have stayed in some really nice PPA parks and some that are just average.

We took our grandson to the Grand Canyon last year on a 40 day trip and stayed in at least 8 PA parks. Definitely saved us money. It helps that we are retired and don't like to travel a lot a miles in one day so we can plan our stops. We also use evpaekreviews.com to check out the campgrounds before going.

There are two passport websites. passportamerica and passport-america. I see a lifetime membership on just one. I understand that there are two different competing offices selling memberships.

What you are looking at is their add site and the main site, same company. We use it all the time in fact we are staying in one right now for 3 nights in AZ, we are also lifetime memberships

You can go to the Passport America website and check out the campgrounds. You do not have to be a member to view them. Restrictions will be listed and you will see that they are all different. Some also take cash only. Some limit 1 day, 3 days - Mon - Thurs only. We have found a few that have unlimited stay.

We are full-time and use it when going between workamper jobs ( we take our time) We have always saved more than the $44 membership in just a couple of stays.

Passport America has a great phone app free for anyone to download from Playstore or Apple. Fully functional (but you won't get the discount without a membership!). Great for researching campgrounds!

I would never join Passport America. Saves "too" much money and messes up your tax returns. No write offs. :S

We are RV vagabonds ... wandering here and there not knowing where we are going to specifically be at the end of any particular day. We rarely make reservations and many times do not even call ahead to prospective campgrounds where we wind up spending the night. We mostly just use maps, our navigator unit, and word-of-mouth reports to locate campgrounds.

As such, we find the various restrictions that PA campgrounds are able to as-they-please put on use of PA discounts way too restrictive to save us much, if anything, on our RV trips.

We much more appreciate the regular AAA, Good Sam, Veteran, etc. small discounts almost always available at a wide variety of campgrounds all the time in all seasons.

Would I spend much higher than PA membership rates to get a uniform 25-30% off at all private campgrounds, across the U.S., that I could count on all the time everywhere - similar to the very uniform federal parks discounts that seniors get - you bet!

Last summer on our 60 day trip out West we were able to use it aprox 10 times. Would have been more but we used USFS CGs 30+ of those 60 days. Some are not the greatest but when you are looking to dump, take on water, and do laundry, what do you expect for $10-15? Have stayed at some really nice new CG that I might not have found otherwise. They actually have a pretty good travel planning web site that will show PA CGs along your route.
