I disconnect- Chevrolet stays hot with ignition switch off (at least 2008 Silverado). Why take a chance of draining my vehicle battery? What if the converter quits, power outage, surge?

Definitely not all 1998 and newer, my 2001 Dodge had the batteries drained while hooked up to the trailer. This was not overnight. Not a good feeling when you turn the key and it doesn't even click. ๐Ÿ™‚

I disconnect when overnighting and not unhitching.

And on most, if newer than 1998 or so, the BCM will detect the current drain and at a certain voltage kill the circuit to the 7 way. That will happen long before the battery discharges enough to not crank the thing over. Feel lucky?

If my trailer is connected, the 7-pin to the truck is connected.

I never did and never had a problem. I have never left my cord unplugged because of this.

You connect to 120VAC CG power which powers the 'charger' that maintains the battery....12VDC

Real question is:
Do you unplug the umbilical cord when parked overnight W/O shore power?

I do..........cause the truck batteries are tied to trailer batteries thru umbilical cord which could end up draining both battery systems

Is it time for your medication or mine?

I never hook up shore power without first unplugging my 7 pin.

Might be ok, but why take a chance? With all of today's hi-tech computer gizmobops in our vehicles, who know what back-feeding can do?

I generally do, tho I rarely do not unhook. I at least use the jack to level the camper. But I pull the plug and unhook the chains for no particular reason.
