I want to know where these openings are in a car where you will be "ejected to safety"?

Unless you are in a convertible with the top down, you are either going through glass or sheet metal.

I had a friend who was killed when he was ejected from his SUV and it rolled over top of him. There wasn't a lot of damage to the vehicle and he would likely only had minor injuries if he had been strapped in.

If being ejected is safer than staying in the vehicle, motorcycles should be safer than cars.

What I usually tell a nut who doesn't "believe" in wearing a seatbelt is to look at that explosive--yet potentially life saving--device on the steering wheel or dash. "So you want your head slammed against THAT when it explodes? Go for it, cupcake."

Why do you think the person riding in the passenger seat is the owner? I would assume it belonged to the driver.

UPDATE:
Police have identified and found the suspect. He is a Canadian who owns property in Florida and was in Florida when found. He is facing vehicular homicide charges.

I used to teach driver's ed to kids--I would hear all the time "a friend of a friend's 3rd cousin's uncle would have been killed if he wore a seatbelt."
I would ask what was the result of the crash and would hear he was paralyzed or was expected to walk in a couple of years.
The other excuse was " what if the car was submerged and they couldn't unlock the belt?". My reply was if you're knocked unconscious because you didn't buckle up, you drown.
In general, like Bumpy, I don't care about stupid people who don't buckle up.
You usually read about them in the paper.
Seatbelts can't prevent 100% of fatalities since some crashes are so bad that they are impossible to survive.
A few years ago, I came upon a relatively minor crash where the car was spun around. The police were standing in a ditch in 2 groups near the car. EMS was further down the ditch working on the live people in the other car. I knew immediately there were at least 2 fatalities. Both thrown through the windows as the car spun. The damage was at the rear and I doubt there would have been anything but bruises if they were belted in.

I know a couple people who are alive today because they were not wearing their seat belts. One was ejected and ended up landing on the seat which was also ejected. If he and the seat had been ejected, he would have been cut in half by the seat belt. Another guy would have been decapitated by his windshield. I wear mine, but it makes me wonder whose odds are better, cause I know of many cases where the seat belt wearers were killed.

this kind of nonsense keeps popping up. my idiot kids said the same thing, they didn't want to be trapped in the car, etc. I would guess that 95% of the time you are much better off strapped in. if you want to take that 5% chance so be it. I get amused when I read about a death and they mention that the deceased was thrown out of the car.
when I worked in Cincinnati years back our office was on a corner that was accident prone. time and time again people, usually women, would come into the office after being involved in an accident and be somewhat banged up. I always made it a point to suggest that they sue the seat belt manufacturer as it obviously was defected. that shut them up really quick.
as I say one advantage to folks not wearing a seat belt is it helps thinning out the gene pool.

In addition, if he's keeping Florida tags on the MH, I doubt he's crossing the border up here with it. Probably storing it somewhere in the northern states on the way back and riding the bikes across the border back home.

Seems to me like he'd have a pretty good reason to be streaking for Canada right now, regardless of any plans he had before the hit-and-run. But if you're right about the moho: chances are that motorcycle trailer is hitched to a Canada-plated vehicle by now.

The passenger, not wearing a belt, was partially ejected and killed.
