Portable Washer & Dryer?

I live in the upstairs part of my hi ranch. Her parents used to live downstairs. Both levels of the house have their own bedrooms, bathrooms, living rooms and kitchen. They are basically two separate apartments.

I am still living in the house but I will be renting out the downstairs apartment. The only problem is that my washer/dryer are downstairs so I don't have access to them anymore once the tenants move in.

With that said, does anyone have any experience with portable washers and dryers. I'm a single guy so it's not like I'd be doing a ton of laundry. I figured an RV board was a great place to answer my question.

Honestly speaking there is a wide range of dryers, from the cheapest folding drying racks to the laundry dryers. So, it depends on your budget and free space you have to place it. I have a Panda dryer in my bathroom and I'm very pleased with it. Here is a proper review on it https://pickadvisor.org/best-portable-dryers/ It's little, fits well on a corner. It works well for me, but if more than two people would use it simultaneously, I think that the laundry volume probably would be too much for this machine. It shuts down to protect itself from overheating. Once it happened when I did several big loads in a row. But, itโ€™s fine, just let it cool down for some time. All in all, I pleased with it. You can set different drying programs depending on fabric and time you have.

I bought the Danby from Wally World. $400+ everywhere else, $298 from them. Gave it to wife for Christmas. Will let you know how it works after we hook up and try. Might be awhile though. 5'ver is winterized and first trip isn't till March.

These are tried and true and 100% portable on wheels. Just be careful with that wringer thingy or you might lose an appendage of some sort!

I can't seem to find "The Centrifuge" washer from Google. Could you point me to the right URL please?

Be careful with portable washing machines. A lot of them are crap. But I found a good one with the help of this review site - they research user reviews in order to see which products seem to be pleasing the most people.

Here it is. goo.gl/AY7Yn

The one I have is great. Many cycles, gets clothes CLEAN and practically dry, but not too dry so there`s no wrinkles.
Here`s a link for it. goo.gl/zbkfw

Hope this will help you with your decision. I haven`t heard much about that Danby model.

This is the one I'm currently debating, Want to put it in my 5'ver. Had excellent luck with the brand. Looking at only a washer & hanging clothes to dry.

Wow, so far so good. I purchased the three items I linked above and all are doing a fine job. I can wash about 3-4 boxers, 2-3 t shirts and a pair of exercise pants at the same time. I place the washer on my counter next to the sink and use the spray wand to fill it up. Filling the machine with water is the longest part.

Then put some detergent in and set the machine anywhere from 1-15 minutes. The machine then shuts off and then you lower a hose to drain the water. It then requires you to fill the machine with water again to get to rest of the soap out. Then turn the machine on for a few minutes and drain again. This is the same cycle that your normal washer does, you just have to do it manually.

Since there is no spin cycle on the washer, the clothes are absolutely soaked at the end. I take he items out of the washer and give them a quick squeeze over the sink to get some water out. I then place everything in that spin dryer. It only takes a minute or two in the spin dryer for the clothes to come out fairly dry. When the clothes come out of the spin dryer, they are actually dryer then any othes I've ever touched coming out of any washer. I'd love to washer clothes in a regular washer and then toss them into the spin dryer to see if more water comes out.

Lastly, I hang the clothes on a drying rack. I keep my house at 64 and by morning they are completely dry. I have no long term use reviews since I've only don't about 4 loads, but for now the washer and spin dryer are great!

Well, here is what I was thinking so far.

This little washing machine seems to have OK reviews. It does require you to manually fill it with water but it is electric. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005GM942C/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00

The reviews of similar dryers are not great so I think I'll be skipping that. I did find a spin dryer with good reviews. You put some clothes in the dryer and it spins them really fast to get more water out of the clothes. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002GEDBIG/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i00

Lastly, I am looking at a drying rack to keep in the spare bedroom. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00383O2UU/ref=oh_details_o06_s00_i00

When we lived in an apartment we bought a portable washer and a portable dryer. They worked very well - in fact more than 25 years later we still have the dryer in our basement (just in case the house dryer breaks). The washer did not last that long, but it lasted long enough. Both were small units and on wheels. The washer used a hose that connected to the kitchen sink faucet and drained into the kitchen sink(make sure you put a drain screen on that hose). Both plugged into regular house outlets. They were more than enough to wash and dry the weekly laundry for the two of us. And in the winter when the dryer was running you could turn down the thermostat in the room because it gave off plenty of heat.

Thanks, I saw that but I'm not sure how I feel about the manual hand crank. I saw some small machines that weren't priced too much more that were actually electric. Also, the legs on that didn't seem to be stable enough.
