Prestone rv pink antifreeze

anyone else having problems finding this rv antifreeze in their local walmarts etc?

I agree - I avoid the ethyl alcohol stuff. Really don't need to add anything else flammable to the rig... I prefer to use the Prestone when I can get it, too.

I just bought 12 gal of Walmart branded Super Tech at $2.59 a gal. We pump it throughout the house water lines so we can leave the heat off. Been doing it for years and it works fine. I'd have no concerns using it in the RV if we didn't take it to Arizona for the winter.

It's just a matter of reading the label, which will show the contents. The other thing to watch for is what they claim for freeze point - none are pure PG, they have added water. How much depends on the area of the country and price.

Last spring I picked up 8 gallons of sta bil at Walmart for a $1 a gallon.

I use the Super Tech -50 degree stuff for $2.58 Our Walmart also has the -75 degree stuff for $1 more. Since I've never encountered -50 in Western NY I'm not spending the extra money.

If you buy a product because of personal preference, . . . that's fine.

Are you putting this antifreeze in your radiator/cooling system or in your plumbing system?

If it goes in your cooling system, follow the vehicle manufacturers recommendations. If it goes down the drain to winterize your plumbing, do you really think that ethyl alcohol will damage the seals? Think about all the other "stuff" that goes down there. You might want to verify your "seal and rubber" information with credible sources. Taking/passing a college level course in general chemistry might be a good start.

In the U.S., there are over 50 antifreeze manufacturers and tens of thousands of retailers who sell various brands. IMO, if you can't find one that fits your particular preference, that's because you haven't looked very hard.

X2. I've been using Super Tech antifreeze in our 96 Southwind for almost 12 years.
No problems.
Maybe we're just lucky?

Walmart by me has StaBil brand, no alcohol. Plenty of warnings on the container not to use it as a fuel stabilizer though!

I just went out to the garage and looked at the Camco RV antifreeze I have left.
Sure enough, contains ethyl alcohol (denatured alcohol).
Considering how long I have been using the stuff, all my drain valves and seals should be rotted away by now.
No problems.
Oh, well, too late to change now, I'll just keep on doing things as I have been all these years.
I think I have just enough to do the job one more time.

You are correct, but I wouldn't limit my choices to just one brand. Just look at the ingredients and pass on those with ethanol or alcohol, or whatever they choose to call it. I bought a case at Home Depot last year that was a brand not often seen. Check Lowe's as well.

I've been using the Walmart SuperTech RV antifreeze. It's good to about -40. I blow the lines and put pink stuff in the traps.
And it's fairly cheap. It doesn't get that cold in PA.
I don't remember seeing Prestone at Walmart around here.
