When you buy a new one = like tires, check the date before you buy. The new one you buy may be several years old.....

We did not have a gas leak, just a faulty detector.

If the propane monitor alarm is sounding, there is a potential gas leak somewhere, the refrigerator, stove, cabin heater or the water heater can be faulty, there can also be a cracked line, a cracked fitting or loose connection.

Take a spray bottle with some dishwasher detergent and look for the source of the leak, spray every inch of every line until you locate it.

There can be another source of gas and that comes from the house batteries gassing off, they can turn the sensor on.

If you are not sure that you can find the leak, call the local gas company or visit your local Fire Department and ask for help, they will be very happy to assist you.

Same thing happened to us. TT 2 years old, raining, so everybody crowded into trailer wet. Propane alarm goes off and would not quit. We had been camping for a couple days already with no problems. Cut wire to detector. When we got home with propane shut off for return trip and windows open to vent the inside, I reattached the detector - same thing, alarming.
Bought a new one, installed it, opened the propane valve, and all was good.
I guess it just happens sometimes.

Ours was less than two years old when it sounded and would not stop. It was so loud, you could hear it all through the campground. We finally had to remove it and replaced it the next day. Wow, that thing emits a really loud noise. No way you could sleep through that.

I also let mine go beyond replacement age and got the beep warning too. I replaced ALL the alarms in my MH as well.

If the unit is more than 5 years old, it should be replaced.

Not sure how you'd do that other than install a battery disconnect on the house batteries. If it's like mine it's hard wired and does not have a battery like the smoke alarm.

X2, mine was hardwired in my last 2 trailers. If it's like a lot of smoke alarms, they will emit a beep constantly and not shut off when they have reached the end of their useful life. They need to be replaced every so many years. Check the manual or download it and you'll find out.
