Question on covering tires

I am just wondering....do tires need to fully covered if not in direct sunlight? I store my MH under a 'pole barn', and only one tire gets direct sunlight (which I have covered). Should I also cover the other 3 that never see direct sunlight? Just wondering.....

If you do purchase covers and use them make sure they are "breathable" covers and not the cheaper type that hold moisture. Ours is shaded by slides plus I keep them coated with 303.

Where I park mine the door side is 80% sun. Never had covers. Went to check air pressure and the valve caps on the sunny side both broke taking them off, didn't on the other side. Firm believer in covers now. Bought covers for both sides.

We discovered that the flannel lining on the inside of our tire protectors made WONDERFUL nesting material for the mice ๐Ÿ˜ž I'd lean towards using a sheet of plywood if you live where there are "critters"

I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to have them, but we don't. When not in use, our motorhome is stored next to another motorhome on the curb side. The street side of the motorhome is fully exposed. The tires are not covered and they look the same on both sides. The tires will be 7 years old in October and look fine. The motorhome has been stored in the same spot since the day we brought it home.

I'm sure they will last longer, but they will be replaced at the end of the year just to be sure. I never got tire covers because the motorhome parked next to ours at the storage log has them and they are constantly coming off. Not sure why, but almost every time I go there, the tire covers are falling off or completely off. Often times, they are under our motorhome.

I only cover mine when parked for a month or longer, otherwise I use a product call aerospace 303 on the tires for UV protection as well.

The sun's UV rays can dry out rubber much sooner than the 6-yr life of tires. Cover is one option. 303 Aerospace protectant is another.

Curious myself. had a TT, covered the tires and they cracked. This TT had a spare with a cover, never used, and it cracked. Do not believe covers help. Have a 5er now, swapped to Good American tires with Protectant, not cheap China junk. So far, so good. Covers, personal choice.

I always cover my tires that face the sunlight under the lean-to on the side of my barn. No need at all to cover the other side since its total shade.

I have my rig in pole barn when at home. I do not cover tires anywhere.
I do use a tire conditioner with UV protectorant.

I store our TT under a shelter. Two tires get hit with direct sun light and the opposite side doesn't. I still cover all four tires. Just like a sunburn, you don't have to be in direct sunlight to be affected by the UV rays from the sun. Probably won't hurt the tires as nearly as much as direct sunlight would, but when it come to my TT tires I rather error on the side of caution.
