"QuartzSite"-? What's the attraction????

Been a member long enough to see the words "goin' to QuartzSite" pop up so often that it seems like I should know what folks are talking about.

I finally looked it up and it looks like a Giant RV Parking Lot that fills up in January/February every year...what on earth brings all those rigs down there????

Thanks

To get away from Port Hadlock! Just Kidding. I actually have a lot at the Evergreen Coho in Chimacum neighbor. The wide open desert and beautiful weather. Not a boondocker, but like to look and the RV vendors stuff.

Comparing it to Sturgis for RV'ers is probably a pretty good analogy. How about Burning Man for old folks? As noted you have to see it to appreciate the event. The RV show in the big (70,000 square foot tent), is our favorite stop. A couple of days boon docking out in the desert, which we do several times a year anyway, is just part of the fun. The most fun might just be being two of the youngest folks in a sea of geezers (we are 62 & 63). :E

If you have a new rig in your future the RV sales show surrounding the big tent should give you lots of choices and the hundreds (thousands?), of booths scattered all over town will sell you anything that you might have missed back in the big tent. Lots of interesting folks and food, probably the greatest people watching location this side of Vegas. You don't have to do it twice but you really "Have" to see it at least once. :B

We are gonna find out this year, deciding we had to do it at least once. DH got an RC aircraft for his birthday and this is a perfect place for him to try it out.

We went there.twice in one visit; first and last. I agree you should go once to see it.
No grass for dogs, just stickers, cactus and sharp rocks. I think westerners are more acclimated to the desert and lack of greenery. It makes sense for someone from Montana to winter there than to drive to Florida. I am from the east. I want green stuff.

Thats our situation. We only were their 2 days. I'd like to go back and stay longer and look around a little more. The wife didn't care for it and is dragging her feet. Maybe next year.

Is boondocking with thousands of other RVers really boondocking?

I've never been to Quartzite but, maybe it's like the Jeep or Harley thing: 'If I have to explain it, you wouldn't understand.'

I would like to go to Quartzite at least one time.

Where else on the planet will you find almost litterally every other car with a tow hitch (maybe more)?

Where else can you find total gridlock comprised 100% of RV's?

We go there to hang with friends, do projects, break things to go into town for parts, fly RC aircraft, geocache, yak. South of town is dusty, north of town not so much.

You either love it or hate it. Below is a VERY SMALL sampling.. Picture that in an area 20x20 miles
