Rotator Cuff problems

and, camping in an RV.

every time we leave, I start to get sore arms. I couldn't figure it out for a while, then realized everything is UP. The dishes and food area mostly in cabinets way above my head. The curtains..I have to lean over the couch and tables to get to them, and the windows. A couple of windows, I've moved things to get as close to them as possible. I've started using a "reacher" for some things, but some are too heavy for that. So, I'm getting a bit better, but still a small problem. Anyone else find this happening?

In 09 I had the most horrific pains, for a few weeks, before going to DR, with what felt like my are was going to fall off. Dr at VA said take a Tyenol. Made me so mad. I was in horrible pain. Went to out side Dr. He had the nurse take control of my right arm with a firm grip and a Mona Lisa smile. He said 321 and omy God he most horrible pain ever. We all learned some new words that morning. A shot right into the rotator cuff. Sent me to therapy.
Green Lases? and warm massage. Must have worked. I don't have much pain with spurs in the rotator cuff. What was next to come, if it didn't work was to polish off the spurs. I understand if caught sooner, there is little damage or none to the cuff and everything goes normal.
Spurs can grow back. People with Diabetes seem to have more than their share with bone spurs. Constant activity of life will forstall a lot fo what we go through. Sit still and a pur might try to fil lsome gap? 🙂

I had slap repairs both shoulders with anchors in both. Surgery was painful but therapy is even worse. Do what you can to prevent the surgery. One shoulder turned out okay the other did not.

Add... Glucosamine & Condroitin (Costco).
Take one tab *faithfully* daily. Be patient - it will work.

I knew (MRI) I had torn rotator cuff.
didn't want to deal with the "down time" after surgery.
But - took a spill, broke my fall with hands out.
That did a "number" on my bad shoulder.
Couldn't lift my arm above my shoulder - no matter how hard I tried.
Took about 6 months of G & C - to get full movement back.

Still have to be careful of things that "shock" that shoulder - like
pounding nails. Use "work arounds" (like a nail gun) to avoid that.

I would recommend you seeing an orthopedic Dr. and have an MRI. If it is a torn rotator cuff and the tear is small it can get better with therapy. If the tear is large you may need surgery. I have had both shoulders repaired one in 2003 and the other in 2009. I have 4 Titanium moly bolts in each shoulder. It took about 1.5 years to get back the same strength that I had before and a lot of therapy although it was functional after about 6 mos.

Try sleeping on a different mattress or using a different pillow. Often times these are the cause of the problem.

Hope this helps.

I had Rotator Cuff surgery May 2012. I was in so much pain I was glad to get into surgery! Then I woke up after surgery and the first thing my Doctor told me was you will not use your arm for 5 months! I had 5 screw angers put in my shoulder. There was not much left holding my shoulder and arm together before surgery. I had therapy for the next 5 months 2-3 times a week. About a week after therapy stopped I could not move my shoulder. Went back to see therapist and he said we have to loosen you up a little and the good news is no damage. Back to therapy for about another month. I continue to do my exercises every 2-3 days at home and I will say today I feel Great. Today I Think before I will try to do something with my arms and shoulders. I still remember months after surgery when I was driving my truck and I was able to flip my blinker with my surgery shoulder. I was so excited to be able to get my arm that high! Setting up the camper at sites that summer was a slow process but I did it. We were not going to stay home all summer! Camping is to much Fun! I do not want to go thru this surgery Ever again! Good Luck!

I have the rotator cuff problem in both shoulders. left worse than the right. my doctor has me doing exercises that really do help. last year I got a cortisone shot in the left shoulder and that really helped- I could sleep straight through the night, I went several months getting up every few hours, exercising then back to sleep. now I don't overdo it and do the exercises. only advantage is I get out of helping with the dishes after our fish fry's. LOL see what your doc recommends

My physician recommended a round of physical therapy before considering surgery. It didn't totally eliminate the discomfort but it certainly reduced it to a tolerable level.

Take this for what it is worth. A number of years ago I could not move my right arm at all without major pain. I told my BIL and he said that I should try the Q-Ray bracelet, not the knock offs, so my DW went out and bought me one. I had suffered with this for months. I put the Q-Ray on my right wrist with the magnets on the top of my arm in the afternoon, when I woke up the next morning I had full mobility and no pain. Is this a miracle, I don't know. Is it in my head, I don't know. But I never take it off and I have never had any pain since. My BIL is the same. Just my 2 cents worth. Macktee

GF has problems with her left shoulder......she's left handed.

So I got her a three step 'step stool' so she could reach things easier.

I'm such a good BF :B
Is it time for your medication or mine?
