SMART CAR TOWING TRAILER INFO

We purchased a trailer for towing our Smart Car vs. all four wheels on the ground. This option puts no wear & tear on the Smart Car when traveling. It allows you to back up when needed, & cost just a little more than the Blue-Ox tow assembly, mods to front of Smart Car & breaking hardware.

Sorry I provided too much information for some of you. This was not meant to be an advertisement, but to give all I knew about the alternative and add on to the trailer options. The trailer has many other uses. It is basically a flat bed with built in ramps. You can haul two ATVs, Golf cart lumber or whatever. All other info removed by posterโ€ฆenjoy

Yah. Thats the one our friends got. They use theirs for a variety of purposes including a tiny utility trailer. Very handy. We had our hitch done custom for a little more but we have a 450 and the hitches are tougher to find for them on this side of the pond.

Hummm...I'm very disappointed. ๐Ÿ˜ž From the title I expected to be reading about a Smart Car towing a trailer! Very disappointed indeed.

Hey. Nice set up. I like the increased capacity over what ours is. We have probably north of 40,000 towing ours on our little trailer. We are on our second set of tires for the trailer now but it has been fairly low maintenance although we hit a road aligator last year and took out a fender. (and tire). Our trailer stores mostly under the rear of the motorhome so it doesn't cause any more grief than a tow dolly really. There are of course pros and cons to both methods of towing but like you we prefer the trailer version for towing although we have friends that tow four down and he is very happy with his set up.

Thanks for sharing. Nice to see costs etc. Ours was made by Kendon in LA but they are no longer building them. IN our case it was a modified side by side quad trailer. I suspect yours could be easily re-purposed for that as well.

You might consider getting the Kurt hitch for the smart car so you can move it around easy in the campground etc. Works great for us. Don't bother with their light harness thing as it only takes 15 minutes to splice in the lights from the rear panel.

Stay safe on the road. Happy trails.

HEY Moderator...........

WHY is a commercial posting advertising a product still here.

I get posts edited/deleted for posting that a pet peeve is editing/deletion of posts (which gets deleted) and a obvious sales pitch remains

Nice trailers........like the different options but don't you just pick up a Smart Car and carry it under your arm?
Is it time for your medication or mine?

must not have liked the first type of trailer if you look the trailer in the pic is a solid surface utility trailer

Granted a smart car is light, but I think you have it too far forward on the trailer and therefore putting too much weight on truck's extended hitch.

Why do you need a toad for such a small rig anyways?

x2 on the blatant advertising.

Ignoring the fact this is a blatant advertisement, I see no practical reason for such a rig. Contrary to what you imply, it is much more expensive than 4 down towing parts and accessories. It has a high inconvenience factor (makes that 24 foot truck camper 40 plus feet long, so you have to find either a site that long or jockey around the trailer and if you have a motorhome, you will need to use the mortorhome to jockey around that trailer, because I don't believe there is a towing package for a Smart Car). Also, it appears to be virtually useless for anything but trailering a smart car. At least a flatbed trailer can be used to haul many things. Decide the Smart car isn't meeting your future needs, the trailer becomes a white elephant. With 4 down towing, much of your equipment can be used when you change towed vehicles, not this trailer. Looks like a waste of money to me.
