DirectTV is negotiating with The Weather Channel and there is a chance DirectTV will no longer carry The Weather Channel.

DirectTV has launched an alternate weather channel on 361. As I told the rep on the phone, I can get weather from many sources, THAT is not the problem. We regularly watch many of the reality shows, Coast Guard Alaska, etc, and they are not on anywhere else.

I told her that if DirectTV drops The Weather Channel we will immediately cancel our service and go to Dish or the local TV cable. If enough people will call in or go on-line and tell them that, they will do whatever is necessary to continue the service!

PLEASE call 1-800-DirectTV. You will first hear a recording that says they are still negotiating with The Weather Channel. At the end of that recording you will hear their main menu. When it asks the purpose of your call say "cancel service". You will then get an attendant.

You can also go on-line at DirectTV.com and register your comments there.

If you feel the same way I do about this, PLEASE do it NOW! Thanks!

To not have to watch all the emotional upheavals of the weather channel crew is more rebate than I could ever ask for. Talk about serious mood swings, higher than everest when a 'cane blows through to digging trenches in bolivia when they fail to build for a couple of years.

What a bunch of emos. LOL

Since Direct is saving money, cutting out stations, they will probably pass the savings on to customers, right.

During severe weather, go to your local channel to see what will directly effect you. Also, go on the internet and "intellicast" for instant updates and live radar.

Jim Cantore spent all those years of lifting weights and for what? To stand in the face of a hurricane like a real man?

right now we are traveling, use Direct TV, and my wife turns on the Weather Channel the first thing every morning .... she does so to check on the weather back home, where we are, and at various places around the country .... when she tuned in this morning, the Weather Channel was gone and the Weather Nation was on .... first impression, the nation is no where near as polished but it does give the weather and that's what we are interested in .... add us to those who could care less about their non-weather programs and won't shed a tear that they are gone .... it will be interesting to see if losing so many customers will bring them back to the table in an effort to get back on Direct

Just an odd thought on my part. The advertisers on a TV station/network pay for commercial time based on the number of viewers. The more viewers the more they pay for a 30 second commercial. If TWC looses viewers then the cost of a commercial should decrease resulting in less revenue. :h

While I am enjoying the new channel (Weather Nation) and didn't care at all for The Weather Channel, I do understand the OP's thoughts. I did like to watch "Highway Thru Hell" once in a while, so I guess that's gone now. Unless the OP and I can find them on other channels or online or ???

For actual weather, though, Weather Nation has TWC beat hands down. I hope DirecTV keeps them in their line up.

I am glad they are gone. Direct's own weather station along with my phone app alerts keep me up to date.

X2 Public safety? During the 40% of their programing of reality shows? What about public safety then? That is ridiculous!

TWC wanted an increase in price, and Direct said "no thanks." That is what this is all about. Money.

TWC insults the viewers intelligence with that claim.
