Using portable Flo-jet macerater pump at home

I have a portable Flo-jet that I haven't used yet and would like to. I only have our residential toilet to pump into. At some point, I hope to tap into house's sewer line.

If I understand correctly, I connect the Flo-jet to the RV, female end of garden hose to flow-jet and male end of the garden hose into the toilet bowl (with someone or something holding it there of course) and turn on the pump?

Is it advisable to put the male end on the bottom of the bowl (into the water) up to the trap of the toilet? Does help this reduce the unpleasant odor that might come with this job?

Does the output end splash much or at all if held in the water or near it?

Anything I should know about to alleviate the wife's (and mine) fears of bringing this into the house?

Thanks

Feeding the output of a waste macerator into a main floor toilet certainly works as a temporary solution but I'd agree with Jeff as it's only matter of time before you get lax, don't pay as much attention as you should, and an "accident" occurs, spilling macerated waste water all over the floor instead of into the toilet bowl. :E Permanent access into the house sewer waste system really is the way you want to solve this. :B

This was not my experience when I first was feeding my FloJet macerator output to the main floor bathroom toilet - system did not siphon backwards, in fact I never gave it any thought. However, the advantages to servicing my tanks at home at my convenience became instantly obvious so the decision to install a permanent intake stack on my house intake stack was a no-brainer. I haven't visited a campground dump station since and wouldn't ever consider it in the future.

Soundguy - I've seen your posts and pix of you home dump station. It's what I would LOVE to do but haven't figured out how yet.

I obviously have no idea what your setup is but would your house have some sort of vertical waste pipe in the basement that's fed by an upper floor toilet? If so, could you not T into that and run the extension to the outside world, similar to how I've done it?

The whole point if this is to make it more convenient to dump. At almost every campground I've been to they have a dump station and I almost always use it. However, there are often long lines/waits and I can't flush out my black tank because ... the wash hose at the dump station has some weird brass end that prevents you from screwing it to your RV and/or the line it too long behind me and I don't want to be "that guy" holding everyone else up.

Exactly. Just be aware that if your black tank is aft of the axle, which in most cases it is, it will when full unload the trailer tongue to some degree so you want to make sure it doesn't do so excessively and cause inherent handling problems while towing.

Thanks for all suggestions. However, I don't understand some of the comments of "make it easy, just put a clean out in". Well, maybe it's easy at your house but it sure isn't at mine!

1. My clean out is in the basement floor, ~1/2 buried in concrete.
2. I have a concrete front porch that I'd have to dig under or cut through and then dig up the driveway to be able to run a sewer line to where the RV is.
3. I live in the northeast (NYS) and my sewer line is at least 8 feet under ground so I can't tap into that.
4. I don't have a clean out in the yard.
5. I don't have any drains in my garage. My understanding is that it's illegal
to have garage floor drains in NYS and it would be darn near impossible to install one now.

So, dumping, or cleaning out, at home is VERY CONVENIENT TO ME! Yes, I can drive all over Kingdom Come, and even further, to find a dump station. I know of several "near" by (about a 30 mins drive). However, I could be almost done dumping at home before I even got close to any of those places.

thanks,
johnm

Alternative may be the water softener elbow on your sewer pipe, if so equipped. Or, through a cleanout plug on the main stack.

I do the final dump and clean at one of several locations in the city before I park it beside our house and behind locked gates. I have several dump locations and never wait. Can choose between a dump station at chamber of commerce, one of 2 truck stops/gas ststions, the county fair grounds, or a fraternal organization of which I'm a member. If one looks around you may find lots of dump facilities that get very little use.

A sewer cleanout on one's front yard seems to be an "American" thing as we just don't seem to have them here in Canada. I do have stinky slinky stored in the trailer's bumper "just in case" but haven't used it even once. ๐Ÿ˜‰

With my own FloJet Waste Macerator I always service my tanks at home so haven't been to a campground dump station in years ... we just wave as we pass by at all those poor souls lining up waiting their turn. It's a total waste of time, especially considering there's no need when a macerator makes the process so simple. :B

If the male end (outlet end) is in the bowl

one IT WILL NOT SPLASH
Two, You have to clean the outside of the hose

Ohe other concern

If the toilet bowl is high enough and the pump fails you can siphon backwards when you disconnect.. or for that matter even if the pump does not fail when you disconnect.

Those are my concerns. Advice I can't give you. As I recall I put it in the bowl ABOVE the water and closed the seat and set a weight on it.

I installed a T in my house main sewer stack and ran it to the outside world so I can simply stick the macerator's output hose directly into it. However, when I first got my FloJet 10 yrs ago and hadn't yet completed this mod I did run the output hose to the main floor bathroom toilet - stuck the end of the hose as far into the bowl, below the water line, as it would go and used a bungie cord to keep it in place. Never had any splashing but there was a bit of odour, something I have none of now running directly into the house sewer stack. Pics are in my gallery.

Use the floor drain in our garage. It smells for a short time, but at least it's not in the house.

It works, the toilet won't overflow, but it's going to be stinky. Especially if your sludge has been sitting in the tank in the heat. I'd run an exhaust fan.

I just have to share this tale from my past. I was living in a small trailer on a friend's property. Every week or so when there was nobody home in the house I'd fill a couple 5 gallon tanks with black water, walk them into the house and dump in the toilet.

The odor was so foul I thought I wouldn't be able to get rid of it before they returned home. It did air out, but it took at least a half-hour. I still laugh about it.
