Would you want to hear from the new owners of your old rv?

My motorhome is 21 years old. We've owned it for the past 11 of those years. I was going through some old documentation and I found a maintenance receipt with the name and address of the original owner in Arizona. He must have been a Marine because there is a Marine logo on the dash (out of respect, I left it there).

The big question: Would you want a picture or a status update of an RV that you've owned in the past? Or would you be like 'Do Not Contact Me Again you Stalker':S

As for me, I would, as long as it was just a friendly update and not a rant about issues with the rv.

My response is so what, once sold it is not their property and they have no future say in it. However it may bring back some pleasant memories for them.

When I was hosting at IBSP, the two previous owners would frequently stop by my campsite to chat. One was the woman from whom I bought it and the other was the family who sold it to her.

That '77 Coachmen Cadet 25 Bunkhouse went through three owners (I sold it in 2010), all of whom are still friends; our common bond is having owned that trailer.

What I would ask them is if they would like me to return the pair of lacey black panties that we found stuffed in a place that was obviously not cleaned by either them or the dealer we bought it from.

Once I sell something whether it's a camper, bicycle, car, truck, boat or motorcycle...I'm done with it. Don't come around or call me about it, I'm not interested. Often there was an emotional attachment as I tend to keep my toys awhile and I don't need to be reminded, I've moved on. I prefer to sell my things to people than live several miles away. That's just me..

Once sold, I really don't want to hear from the new owners, especially if I trade it in. No good can come of it, and there is a chance the new owners are looking for some excuse to either demand something, try to rub how cheaply they got the rig in my face, or find an excuse to threaten litigation in hopes of some easy cash.

Once it is gone and I sign the title over, it is -gone-. I move on.

Depends, are they calling to compliment me on all the great mods I made or are they calling to complain?

Sold our last boat, a 36' trawler, to a nice couple from Santa Barbara 7 years ago. They keep us updated as to her new adventures and the improvements they've made, I especially like getting pictures, often of things I was going to do "someday". Their son got married on the boat out at Fourth of July Cove on Catalina and we got a copy of the wedding album..... very nice! :B

I would love to meet the new owners of our TT and hear about their adventures... we sure had our share.

I would have no problem hearing from the new owner of my old RV.

And, I wouldn't mind answering questions about my old RV, I have no problem helping a fellow RVer.

My old 99 Hornet is still in the same seasonal campground. The couple that bought it are still happy with it.

I made the "mistake" of going to look at a boat I previously owned, when I saw it in a moorage. When I got within 20 feet, I could smell the dry rot. It was heart-breaking to see how far downhill she had gone. I promised myself, "Never again." I don't want to know. The past is past. JMHO, YMMV.
