About long-term storage of Honda eu2000i

I'll be storing my generator for a few months, so here's my idea: I'm going to siphon all the gas I can get out of it, then run it dry. At this point I was going to run a little of that ethanol-free gas you buy in a can for chainsaws, trimmers, etc. Then I remembered that it's premixed 50:1. Would that hurt or help with storage? Or should I just leave the genny dry?

If I run it dry, why would there still be fuel in the fuel pump and carburetor, as per the manual?

I run mine dry then drain the carb.

I'll post this again since it's been a year or so since the last time...

In the Pacific Northwet...

Loggers store equipment with fuel bowls filled with pure 100% WHITE GAS

If you say the word Sta-Bil you'll get a room full of sneers, snide remarks, and har-har-hars from loggers. Some of their Stihl chainsaws are worth an awful lot of money.

Chainsaws, generators, you name it. Gasoline is drained and white gas goes in. For the few seconds of running it takes to drain the bowl and suck in fresh gasoline in the new season it hasn't hurt any of my stuff SINCE 1983!

A few months? I'd just put Stabil in the tank, run the genny for a while, turn off the fuel, let it stall out. Turn off the switch, call it good. What I do with both my gennies. A 5K Dayton and a Eu 3000. They always start.

I acquired a Honda 2000 last year that had sat for five years with fuel in it and the tank wasn't turned off. Nothing had leaked (oil or gas) and it started in four pulls. I used it a couple of times. Then in the fall I turned the fuel off, ran it until it died and put it in the garage. This summer it stared without any problems. I'll keep it.

All my small engines from ATVs down to weed trimmers get stabil in every tank. They have all performed perfectly for years. I retired my 20 year old lawnmower this year, but it still runs and starts just fine. My 8 year old ATVs start easily and run fine after a long dormant winter. My generator goes unused for many months at a time and has always started and run well after 10 years. I forgot that I even owned a chainsaw and after discovering it on a shelf under heavy dust, it started right up and runs great too. Zero effort except for stabil in the fuel. Actually I think the 2 stroke fuel has a stabilizer added to it with the oil. The one thing I have learned is really important is shutting off the fuel petcock if one is present. Of course that won't matter if you run it dry. OK, done rambling. ๐Ÿ™‚

X2 I follow almost the same procedure except I don't drain the carburetor. Also have needed it when we had a power failure so ready to run is best.
Generator is 12 years old and I have never had any issue with gas, the carburetor or starting the engine. And we have E10 around here.

go to a store that sells chain saws. I think Huskavarna? sells fuel and I know Sears does in a guart container for around $4 a can that is supposed to last forever. My neighbor uses it but forever isn't here yet so how do we know if it's any good.

Run/drain the fuel out. Some carb bowls have a small screw drain. I like to pour in some straight sea foam. Drain it before I run it again.

I would either run it dry or leave it full and then drain the carb.
Leaving a little fuel in it is worse than leaving it full.

That's what I have done for years. My gens sit for 6 or months at a time and start right up every time after putting fresh gas in them

Run it completely dry of gas. Have a 25+ year old Honda genset that starts on the first pull every time. Never store a small engine more then a month or two with gas in it. Your carburetor will thank you.
